Soho Warehouse
The Soho Warehouse art collection enhances the character of the former industrial building with five site-specific commissions that delve into themes of the body and language
The Soho Warehouse collection is one of the most ambitious to date and comprises more than 150 pieces, including five site-specific installations: a mural upon entering by Shepard Fairey, a rooftop mural by Blanda, a stairwell wallpaper installation by Genevieve Gaignard, a 14 foot painting by Paul Davies, and a sculptural installation by Sadie Barnette.
The site includes the first video art piece in the Soho House collection by Brian Bress. Also installed in the lobby are works on paper by emerging talent Sissòn. These figurative pieces begin a section of the collection that focusses on the theme of ideal/ unidealized bodies. Key works artists include Laure Prouvost, Juliana Huxtable, Linder Sterling, Claire Tabouret, David Salle, Penny Goring, Claudia Peña Salinas, Chris Lux, Christina Quarles, and Amalia Ulman.
Another focussed selection centers on text-based art, which includes work by the late ‘pop art nun’ Corita Kent, as well as Dread Scott, Martine Syms, Glenn Ligon, Rose Salane, Christopher Wood, Stefan Brüggemann, and Helen Cammock.
The bedrooms each include commissions by David Horvitz, Badass Cross Stitch or Anna Carey. Other artists in the collection include Basil Kincaid, Christine Sun Kim, Miya Ando and Sayre Gomez. The collection was curated by Kate Bryan, Global Director of Art, between 2017 and 2019.
