American Ballet Theatre Principal Dancer, Misty Copeland, and former colleague, Joseph Phillips, recently launched Swans For Relief, a virtual ballet event featuring a ‘united nations of ballerinas’ from 14 countries. The goal: to raise funds for unemployed ballet dancers around the world due to COVID-19. In today’s conversation, Copeland chats to Fabrice Calmels who recently took his final bow after 18 years at the Joffrey Ballet. They talk about how this global pandemic might just be the reset that’s needed in the ballet world, and how the future of dance could involve reaching out to the community for outdoor performances.
