Cryotherapy

Our cryotherapy chamber utilises cutting-edge technology to facilitate effective recovery during a heavy training block, aid pain management, and enhance general wellbeing.

Cryotherapy
What is cryotherapy?
Cryotherapy, or cold therapy, uses extreme sub-zero temperatures to treat targeted issues or support overall wellness. Whole-body cryotherapy takes place in an immersive chamber to offer broader health benefits. This method is particularly suited in sports and fitness contexts, because the chamber can deliver all-encompassing recovery for muscles following a heavy training session; however, it can also benefit mental wellbeing.

What is a cryotherapy chamber?
A cryotherapy chamber is the specialised enclosure where you will have full exposure to the sub-zero temperatures required for the treatment. Guests stand inside the chamber wearing minimal clothing (for optimal exposure to the cold therapy) as it fills with hyper-cooled air.

What are the benefits of cryotherapy?
When administered in a full-body chamber, cryotherapy encourages muscle recovery, reduces pain and inflammation, and improves mobility, enabling athletes to safely continue their training load. It can also benefit mood and energy by promoting the release of endorphins.

Cryotherapy contributes to a well-rounded training programme by delivering post-workout recovery between training sessions.

House tips

To prepare for cryotherapy, we recommend removing all lotions, oils and makeup – the skin should be as dry as possible. We’ll provide the clothing required to enter the chamber, including shorts, sports bras, shoes, headbands, and socks. Our team of trained therapists will be present for the whole three-minute session.
Cryotherapy
What should I expect from my first cryotherapy session?
A cryotherapy chamber is designed for short exposure to extreme cold, typically lasting three minutes. You will experience an intense but quick cold sensation as sub-zero air is expelled into the chamber. You may experience a subtle tingling on the surface of your skin; otherwise the treatment should be an energising experience.

Where is cryotherapy available?
Cryotherapy is currently offered on the treatment menus at Soho House Rome and Barcelona Pool House, with plans to expand this offering to White City House and Soho Farmhouse soon. Members can book sessions for themselves and their guest via the Soho House app.

Treatment stacking

Create an integrated recovery programme that combines cryotherapy with additional treatments available at select Houses. Pair cryotherapy with red light therapy (PBM) to support cellular recovery. Compression boots are similarly used as an additional tool to assist circulation after training.

Frequently asked questions

Short-term effects may last from several hours to a couple of days. To feel long-term benefits, we recommend consistent, repeated sessions combined with other recovery habits.
Immediately after the session, you may feel heightened energy from an endorphin rush as a result of the cold exposure. Later in the day, you may feel some muscle relief and a relaxed sensation as circulation improves.
The consistency of your sessions depends on your goals and training load. We recommend one to five times per week for general wellness and recovery.
Pricing for all Soho Health Club treatments, including our three-minute cryotherapy sessions, can be found on the Soho House app.
