The Soho House Paris art collection is an ode to painting and what the medium means today, alongside unique site-specific murals that create a bohemian atmosphere

The Soho House Paris art collection includes more than 150 works, curated by Global Director of Art for Soho House, Kate Bryan. Unlike the other Houses, the collection in Paris is strictly paintings only, providing an interesting glimpse into a global survey of the medium today.

Paris is known for its historic painting collections; the Louvre alone holds thousands of canvasses, and the House collection responds to this history by providing a selection of works by artists working in this medium today, from Jules de Balincourt and Oscar Murillo to Lynette Yiadom-Boakye and Laure Prouvost. In the entrance, large commissioned paintings are hung in panels to give the impression that they’ve always been there, with works by Matthias Garcia, Benoît Maire, Tai-Shan Schierenberg, Clare Woods, Julie Beaufils, Souleimane Barry, Isabelle Cornaro, Florian & Michael Quistrebert, and Cecilia Granara.

Despite its international outlook, the House still features over 65% artists born or based in France. There are murals in 11 of the bedrooms by Paris-based artist Roberto Ruspoli, who also added a ceiling mural from the ground floor to the Cabaret Room. The other bedrooms all include commissioned artworks by French artists Antoine Langenieux-Villard, Sara J Beazley and Elisabeth Lecourt. The bar features window designs by local artists Natsuko Uchino, Mel O’Callaghan and Emmanuel Van der Meulen.
