Around the Houses: August in the UK and Europe

Around The Houses UK

Last month’s events saw Soho House members in the UK and EU partying to the sounds of Thundercat, Amber Mark, and DJ Harvey

By Anish Patel

Lucky London: in August, Soho House brought Grammy award-winning acts such as Thundercat and DJ Harvey to the performance space, and hosted the GQ Men of the Year Awards afterparty at our newest London outpost. Elsewhere in Mykonos, St-Germain put the spirit back into Soho Roc House with their Pride party. Scroll down for all the action.

GQ Men of the Year Awards afterparty at 180 House, London

Who wasn’t there? Damson Idris led models Winnie Harlow and Jourdan Dunn onto the dance floor, while Gary Lineker caught up with event hosts Idris Elba and GQ’s chief content officer Jonathan Heaf at the bar (over Negronis, no less). Up on the Roof, director Quentin Tarantino enjoyed the London skyline with a friend as the sun set over the city. For a sneak peek of the event, click here.

Amber Mark at 180 House, London

Soulful pop artist Amber Mark got the crowd at 180 House in London onto their feet with a selection of songs, including her latest release, ‘Foreign Things’. The New Yorker lay claim to the dance floor post performance, too, partying until the small hours with her well-heeled entourage. Where does she ease out hangovers? ‘Soho House, of course’, she told us in the content booth. Listen to our audio interview with her here.

Thundercat at 180 House, London

The two-time Grammy award-winning bassist and singer came down hot off his surprise gig at Gilles Peterson’s We Out Here Festival in Cambridgeshire and performed to a packed room at 180 House in London. Guests included British singer-songwriter and member Joy Crookes and producer Dean Bryce. Listen to our audio interview with him here for an exclusive on his next collaboration (it’s a good one, we promise).

DJ Harvey at Shoreditch House, London

We called upon DJ Harvey to host a rooftop party at our east London hotspot. The music maverick has kept the party going for decades, after all. Members two-stepped into the bank holiday weekend to a set infused with hip-hop, electro, and 1990s garage. The order of the day? Picantes – there’s no better way to turn up the heat on a Saturday night.

St-Germain Pride party at Soho Roc House

We like our cocktails on the Rocs (get it?), which is why we called upon St-Germain to host a Pride party at our Mykonos outpost. There was a makeup station by Konstantinos Galanis, a bespoke jewellery pop-up by Harry Mestro and a cocktail tasting station by St-Germain, where members could sample colourful concoctions including the St-Germain Spritz and L’Exotique. Guests danced to music by Baby Nymph and Chris IDH, before cooling off from the summer sun in the House’s outdoor pool.

ACS pool party at White City House, London

The ACS Show hosts Ashton Gohil and Emmanuel Lawal made a splash at White City House with their bank holiday weekend pool party. Sure, Carnival was cancelled, but the duo brought the spirit of Notting Hill’s favourite festival to west London. Guests, including model Cheyenne Maya and singer Vanessa White, enjoyed jerk chicken courtesy of Mama’s Jerk, and danced until dawn to classic hip-hop bangers. Listen to ACS’s latest show with Bastille frontman Dan Smith here.

Ghetts at Shoreditch House, London

British rapper Ghetts knows how to get a crowd going, and he got the party into full swing on the Roof at Shoreditch House. The East End artist showed off his venomous flows with a selection of tracks from his third album Conflict Of Interest. Well-versed fans belted back lyrics so loudly that you could hear them from the ground floor.
