Soho House Mexico City

As our first House in Latin America, it was particularly important to highlight the vibrant and renowned art world of Mexico City. The result is one of our most ambitious collections to date, combining the breathtaking architecture of the building with the strength of the local art scene
The Soho House Mexico City art collection was curated in 2023 by Chief Art Director Kate Bryan and Art Collection Manager Anakena Paddon. In close collaboration with some of Mexico City’s most established galleries (Kurimanzutto and OMR, to name a few) and more emerging spaces (such as PEANA, Campeche and Salón Silicón), the collection brings together more than 160 artworks by artists with strong ties to the Mexican capital. The variety in mediums (embroidery, painting, glass, photography, ceramic, textile, sculpture, collage, and more) emphasises the diversity of the city’s creative scene. Being able to play with the scale of the space allowed for the presentation of museum-level artworks in impactful ways, such as the restaurant featuring three stand-out pieces (Abraham Cruzvillegas, Zhivago Duncan and Ana Segovia); the Annex with Sofía Táboas’s monumental glass installation; and Yeni Mao’s custom hanging sculpture in the Pool House.
One of our most immersive site-specific pieces ever produced is the floor-to-ceiling textile installation created by the artist duo Cuerpo Celeste (known individually as Gabriel Rosas Alemán and María Fernanda Camarena). It wraps across all four walls of the reception, creating an immediately warm environment, and signalling to members from their very first entrance that the space is dedicated to artists.
