Ishaan and Simone stayed in room 17 at Soho House Mumbai
‘We eat ricotta pancakes and sip on fresh juice as we take in the sun and the sea from the balcony’
Escape the city with photographer Ishaan Nair and his co-worker, Simone, as they hit Juhu for two days of beach views, sea air and meditation at Soho House Mumbai.
11am: check in
After a relaxed morning, I check in and enjoy the room before diving into a writing session with Simone. The bedroom is instantly inviting and stunning views beckon us out onto the balcony.
Simone and I decide to order ricotta pancakes and sip on pineapple juice and Healthy Coladas as we take in the sun and the sea.
2pm: writing session
Being at the House feels like a much-needed respite from life in Mumbai lockdown. The tranquility of the space makes our writing session peaceful and focused.
‘The evening sun quickly gives way to monsoon-heavy clouds and we decide to head up to the eighth-floor for a meal’
6pm: beach stroll
We take a short walk along the beach and realise how much we’ve come to appreciate monsoon season. We feel like we’re missing it this year because of the pandemic and it feels special to be outside again.
7pm: dinner and winding down
The evening sun quickly gives way to rain-heavy clouds and we decide to head up to
the eighth-floor for a meal before winding down for the day.
‘The sunset promises to be beautiful. We request a late checkout so we can enjoy one more evening with this spectacular view’
We bump into a familiar face at breakfast and the combination of sun, sea air and incredible food makes for the perfect start to our day.
3pm: meditation session
We participate in a late-afternoon gong meditation session in the Eva Room at the House. It leaves us feeling simultaneously calm and invigorated.
6pm: sunset departure
The sunset promises to be beautiful, so we request a late checkout to enjoy one more evening with this spectacular view before we head back to the hustle and bustle of city life.
