Soho Farmhouse: All the perks of a midweek stay

Soho Farmhouse: Make indulgent midweek breaks your thing | Soho House

We get it, our Oxfordshire outpost in the UK is ludicrously popular. So that’s why we’ve added even more bedrooms, making quick Monday to Wednesday stays even easier

In the past three years, Soho Farmhouse has been the UK’s most sought-after escape. Two hours’ drive away from London, it has everything we’ve learnt to appreciate during intermittent lockdowns: long walks, the smell of freshly cut grass from the hills, and the sweet sound of silence. A day or two spent off screen and off grid – and in a bath. Pleasures that are local and seemingly simple.

Now that the world is back to its former fast pace and summer is approaching, 100 acres of Oxfordshire countryside is as popular as ever. To make sure we keep up with the demand for those willing to decompress, indulge and roam around, Soho Farmhouse now has even more places to crash for a night or two. With 20 new Farm Huts and 114 bedrooms in total, there has never been a better time to catch a midweek break and see why the rural dream is worth revisiting.

So, what are the new Huts like? Enjoy a lazy morning lounging in an emperor-size bed with an idyllic view of the farm or serene rolling landscapes. Let your nervous system take in the elegantly crafted calming vibe of the room: fir timber ceilings, limewashed walls, green terrazzo floors, and muted colours. Or just have a nap on a plush sofa after a cup of green tea, a sticky bun, and a good book.

Spend an afternoon by the Boathouse, our indoor-outdoor pool on the lake, followed by a late lunch, and a chilled glass of Lady K. Every Farm Hut comes with its own terrace and wooden bath – so maybe just take it slow on your own terms. The best bit? With more affordable rates and quieter stays midweek, there’s no need to wait until the weekend rush.

Truth is, the countryside escape for our times doesn’t have to follow all the classic tropes. Running away into the woods isn’t for everyone: there is still the Electric Barn Cinema, the Hay Barn to read, eat and drink in good company, the Mill Room for a pint, and our Soho Health Club to train as much as your heart (and body) desire.

Soho Farmhouse has been unwaveringly in demand through the years and seasons – not only for its interiors, location and the allure of the countryside, but also because it fits with the shifting idea of travel. In the past, it was about chasing experiences, ticking restaurants, sights and bars off the list, and losing count of air miles. These days, our increasingly digitalised lives mean that we’re constantly everywhere and nowhere – at times, plugged in but not present.

A visit to Soho Farmhouse is the perfect excuse to temporarily make your world smaller, softer and quieter, without sacrificing all the delights we work so hard to enjoy. It’s like local and seasonal produce – sometimes less is more.
