The Browns buying director reveals her favourite pit stops in the City of Light

Sunday 2 October 2022   By Ida Petersson

Stylish Swede and Soho House member Ida Petersson is no stranger to Paris. The buying director of iconic British department store Browns, Petersson spends a great deal of her working life stalking the streets of The Marais and the 8th in search of superlative fashion and, well, baked potatoes topped with caviar, as it turns out.

Favourite spot for breakfast
‘For an “en route to the shows” quick pick-me-up, Wild & The Moon is the best place. Their green smoothie gets me through fashion week and I live by their iced lattes. For a longer breakfast meeting, you can’t go wrong with Holybelly 5.’

Best place for a fashion lunch
‘Still L’Avenue or Cafe Charlot. It’s not so much about the food, it’s more about the people-watching. For a chic, fast lunch I also love Mar’co.’

Best place for a late-night dinner
‘Caviar Kaspia, always.’

Best place for a midnight snack
‘One of the many creperie holes in the wall in the Marais or room service.’

Where do you enjoy cocktails?
‘Soho House, of course. If not there, I love a cocktail date at Hotel Costes.’

Where do you go to let your hair down?
‘Raidd bar.’

Any shops you can’t live without visiting?
‘The new Jacquemus store is a must. Otherwise, I also love Tom Greyhound, The Broken Arm, and Kith. For beauty, any French pharmacy will do; their selection of skincare brands is legendary and does wonders for fashion-fatigued skin.’

Any secret places you love?
‘Not secret, but I love Candelaria for a quick Mexican snack and cocktail fix. I like having to walk through the falafel shop and through the back door to find the bar.’

How often do you go?
‘For work, about 10 times a year; for pleasure, not enough.’

Best place for music
‘Hmm, I never have time, so would only know show venues.’
