‘Lemon Pepper Wet’: a playlist full of Atlantan flavour

Curated by Spotify’s head of songwriter relations, Paris ‘PK’ Kirk, here’s your musical induction to the ‘unique and saucy’ sounds of The Big Peach

Having worked with the likes of Ludacris, Brent Faiyaz and Victoria Monét, Cities Without Houses member and artists and repertoire (A&R) specialist, Paris ‘PK’ Kirk, has helped shape Atlanta’s thriving hip-hop scene into what it is today.

Born, raised and based in Atlanta, Kirk possesses an acute understanding of the city’s music industry. This, in part, accounts for the inspiration behind an exclusive playlist that he put together called Lemon Pepper Wet. Speaking to Soho House, Kirk explains, ‘[Lemon Pepper Wet] describes the style and unique preparation of the type of wings you’d find in Atlanta.’ Fairly unknown to non-Atlantans, they’re a beloved dietary staple among locals.

Unlike the wings, Atlanta’s stature in the US’s hip-hop landscape is known and recognised globally. But it’s Atlantan natives who are the scene’s primary consumers – supporting, investing and nurturing talent as they rise, as well when they find mainstream success.

A combination of classics, club anthems and slow jams from some of the most exciting and prolific names in hip-hop – here are the essential sounds of Atlanta.
