As we celebrate Soho House Bangkok’s anniversary with restaurant pop-ups, performances and more, we take a look back over 12 months in the city

Monday 26 February 2024 By Chloe Lawrance

It’s been an exciting first year for Soho House Bangkok. Set over three floors of the former Eugenia Hotel building in the lively Sukhumvit neighbourhood, the House has welcomed much of the city’s creative community through its doors over the past 12 months, with many memorable events and parties.

To mark one year of our first outpost in South East Asia, we hosted a week of celebrations between Tuesday 20 and Saturday 24 February. There were poolside pop-ups by local chefs, including the teams behind Little Market, Appia and Charmkrung, and a live performance from Soho Rising star Rosalyn.

We also held a special launch dinner for the newest edition of the Soho House magazine and enjoyed parties throughout the House. As the celebratory week came to a close, we treated members to a much-deserved recovery day, complete with wellness-boosting activities and DJ sets around the pool.

Soho House Bangkok’s Head of Membership and Communications, Lynn Visudharomn, has been a part of the team since the House first opened, so we asked her to share some of favourite memories from the past 12 months.

One Night Only with Samrub Samrub Thai, May 2023
‘Chef Prin Solsuk and the team behind Samrub Samrub Thai joined us for a #PoeticallyDelicious dinner inspired by Larb Pak, a book by Rong Wongsawan. For me, the night’s highlights included Young Mangosteen in a sweet fish sauce, Freshwater Seaweed Crackers served with galangal, sesame and wild honey, and Grilled Duck Breast with five-spice sauce and roti.’

Yearbook project showcase, June 2023
‘The Yearbook project was a collaboration between Arc Press, Tyezine and Soho House Bangkok to celebrate Thailand’s vibrant creative scene, and we hosted a showcase of the project in June. Photos by our member Kanrapee Chokpaiboon were on display, along with a mini exhibition by Tul Rexx, Ppow, and Noncheleee from the Television Gallery.

‘There was also a market of emerging creators and makers, plus live DJ sets from the Abandon Radio team from Chiang Mai. The afterparty hosted by Alec Orachi and Master Bogus was a hit, too.’

The New Wave Project, November 2023
‘For the New Wave Project, we worked with UTA and DOW to search for up-and-coming talent in the worlds of fashion, product design and visual arts. These young creators were assisted by our team to create unique works exploring how creativity can enhance the daily experience of urban life. These pieces were showcased at West Eden gallery, and each young creator involved received membership to Soho House Bangkok for a year. They’ve made a great addition to our creative community.’

Urban refugees and Friendsgiving charity potluck, November 2023
‘For Friendsgiving, we teamed up with chefs Paolo Vitaletti of Appia, Tam Chudaree Debhakam of Baan Tepa Culinary Space, and Megan Leon and Chalee Kader of Wana Yook to host a feast of traditional Thai dishes for members and refugee families from the Na Projects group. It was a lovely moment, with everyone coming together to share stories, and all proceeds went to the Na Projects group’s important work.’

Wonderfruit, December 2023
‘During the city’s Wonderfruit festival, we hosted a series of special events, such as the Fermentation Rehydration Station x Philip Huang’s Indigo World, a Teeny House beads and brunch workshop, and a Picante picnic. We also invited DJ collectives Lonely Girls Club and Yeti Out for some special stage performances, and held a dinner at the Theatre of Feasts, hosted by chef Prin Polsuk of Samrub Samrub Thai and Krua Luuk Rieang.’

New Year’s Eve party, December 2023
‘We celebrated our first New Year’s Eve celebration at the House with our “Sarong Social Club” party. Members dressed in sarongs and enjoyed live music from The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band, as well as a late-night set from DJ Fleetmac Wood.’
