There’s nothing like a roaring fireplace. From the ambient heat to the gentle, ASMR-esque crackling and the oh-so-flattering light – it’s so relaxing that it’s almost hypnotic. And with cold temperatures here for the foreseeable future, it’s the ideal time to factor a bit of fireside time into your schedule. So, for your lounging convenience, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite fireplaces around the Houses – and we’ve even given you the drinks to match.

Babington House: Eggnog


Ingredients
2oz/ 50ml aged spirit 
.5oz/ 15ml double cream 
1oz/ 25ml milk
.5oz/ 15ml simple syrup 
1 egg white
Garnish: nutmeg

Method
Add the egg white to a large tin, and then add your aged spirit, milk, cream and simple syrup to your small tin. Combine the ingredients and dry shake until you have a nice smooth texture. Add ice, then shake hard and quick with cubed ice. Fine strain into a tasting glass.

Soho House Berlin: Dark and Stormy


Ingredients
2oz/ 50ml Goslings dark rum 
.5oz/ 15ml lime juice
Top with ginger beer
Garnish: half a shell of lime (the one you squeezed from) dashed with Angostura bitters

Method
To a highball glass, add the lime juice, rum, some ice, and top up with ginger beer. Ensure you stir and distribute the ingredients around the glass.

Soho House Amsterdam: Hot Toddy


Ingredients
2oz/ 50ml blended whisky 
25oz/ 10ml honey water 
.5oz/ 20ml lemon juice 
3.5oz/ 100ml boiling water
Garnish: lemon slice, nutmeg, cloves (other spices optional) 

Method
Warm up your glass, then add the honey, lemon and whisky. Add boiling water, then quickly stir to combine all of the ingredients.
