Wishing you were jetting to the Mediterranean to dine amongst olive trees in one of Greece’s seaside towns? Mandolin Taverna is the next best thing. The LA-outpost of Miami’s famed eatery brings you that laid-back European summer feeling without having to leave the city of Los Angeles. Founded in 2009 in Miami by husband-and-wife duo Ahmet Erkaya and Anastasia Koutsioukis, LA’s Mandolin Taverna outpost maintains the authentic charm of the original restaurant.
Located in the garden of Soho Warehouse, the eatery offers members a chance to dine amongst greenery and string lights, an atmosphere that instantly transports you to the Greek Islands. Enjoy an escape from downtown’s city-feel to relax with family and friends in the intimate oasis.
Don’t get us started on the menu; you can’t go wrong starting off with an array of Mezes. A Greek Sampler of tzatziki, olive, and tirokafteri, or Baked Feta, Grilled Octopus, and Köfte, all served alongside warm house-made bread. Then there’s the salads including a traditional Greek and Flatbreads with Kefalograviera, zucchini, or Lahmacun and minced lamb.
With a vibe as desirable as the menu, you can’t go wrong. Order a creative cocktail, or a bottle of wine and step out of DTLA and into a taverna on one of the Greek Island’s coastal towns.
