Dine al fresco at Soho House Istanbul’s newly reopened Apheleia

Summer is here, and to mark the season we’ve reopened Apheleia at Soho House Istanbul, this time with some exciting updates, including a new Greek-Mykonian inspired menu that doesn’t disappoint. 

The name of the restaurant itself refers to the spirit of ease and simplicity in Greek mythology, which has been the key inspiration for the design, ambience and dishes you’ll find there. Now based on the terrace of the Palazzo Corpi building, Apheleia is set up as a family-style taverna. Cosy furniture, locally sourced food and background music, all with the intention of bringing both local and global members together for relaxed dining. 

The new menu is Greek-Mykonian with a Mexican twist and was created by Athinagoras Kostakos, Culinary Director of Soho Roc House and Scorpios in Mykonos, so you’re in for a treat. Every dish is made from local ingredients, and the smell of charcoal and our wood-fired oven will have your mouth watering as soon as you hit the terrace. 

Here are just a few highlights from the new menu.

Josper charcoal oven (think barbecue) 
Beef Souvlaki, charred broccoli 
Tomahawk Rib-Eye cooked on the bone 
Jumbo Shrimp in brown butter and chilli sauce 

Mexican twist
Mini Tacos Greek-Turkish style, tomato confit, paprika yoghurt

Seafood special 
Black Risotto, calamari, chili flakes, lemon sauce

For the vegetarians (but not exclusively)
Spinach Pie Salad, crispy filo pastry 

Something sweet
Loukoumades, mastic cream, chocolate sauce, honey and cinnamon syrup 
Half-Baked Cookies, ice cream (a House favourite) 

And no dinner is complete without a drink to complement it…

Chios
Bombay Sapphire, Skinos, lime, sugar, cinnamon, clove

Aphrodite
Grey Goose, salted caramel, peach, lime

Picante (of course)
Tequila, agave nectar, fresh lime juice, chilli pepper
