Whether you’re visiting for the day, or spending a long weekend relaxing, swimming or taking part in the many activities available (that includes tennis, clay-pigeon shooting and more), no trip to Soho Farmhouse is complete without sampling all the different food. And there are plenty of places to choose from – whether you’re looking for a hearty breakfast, a quick afternoon snack or an all-out dinner to mark a special occasion.
Read on to take a tour of the dining spots – and happy eating.
Little Berenjak
The newest addition to Soho Farmhouse, Little Berenjak serves an authentic Iranian menu inspired by Tehran’s hole-in-the-wall kebab houses. The Persian restaurant – situated in the farmyard in the space previously occupied by The Little Bell – offers charcoal-grilled meats, traditional dips and clay oven-baked breads. Across the menu, members will find a selection of mezze dishes, including Black Chickpea Hummus, Mirza Ghasemi (coal-cooked aubergine with garlic, tomato and eggs), and Panir with radishes and fresh herbs. But it’s the lamb and chicken kabab that the Berenjak team is perhaps best known for, as well as Khoresht – flavourful vegetable and meat stews. Prepare yourself to feast, and be sure to try the Preserved Lemon Margarita, complete with mezcal and tequila, or Black Lime Sharbat – a refreshing mix of black lime, fresh lime and mint.
Located right at the heart of Soho Farmhouse, the spacious Main Barn serves dishes made with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients cooked in the wood oven. Pop by for a cocktail at the bar or a glass of red next to the open fireplace on the mezzanine, or settle in for a cosy dinner. Choose from a menu of House Regulars and main dishes like Twice-Baked Cheddar Souffle with Keen’s cheddar from the south west of England, or Rack of Lamb with green sauce. There’s also a selection of Farm Comforts – think Welsh Rarebit with truffle, and Bampton Sausage and Mash. On the weekend, members gather for a traditional Sunday Roast with all the trimmings – washed down with Bloody Marys, of course. If it’s more formal dining you’re after, head over to the Fancy Farm area of the barn – an ideal spot for a special birthday or date night.
Pen Yen
These days, Pen Yen is a fixture at a number of our Houses around the world, but it was at Soho Farmhouse that the izakaya-style Japanese restaurant first opened in 2015. Located by the Boathouse, the menu features sushi, sashimi and bao buns, as well as dishes cooked over hot charcoal on the robata grill. The offering is updated regularly with new and interesting sharing dishes, but you’ll still find member favourites, like Black Cod served with a sharp saikyo dip, Chicken Tori Kara-age with yuzu mayo, and Spicy Tuna Maki. There’s also a comprehensive saké menu to choose from, plus a host of classic and specialist cocktails.
Set in a large converted hay barn, this bright and airy space is a great spot for a casual lunch or dinner – and with breakfast served every weekend, plus a children’s menu offered until 9pm every day, it’s where many members head to eat when they visit with family. Discover Italian-Californian-inspired dishes, alongside a range of member-favourite House Regulars, with pizza, fish and meat straight from the wood oven. During the week, make this your spot for working lunches, accompanied by the lunch combo that includes a choice of two soups, salads or pizzette.
The third location for this local bakery and cafe, Blake’s Kitchen Bakery is the go-to spot for breakfast within the House. That’s in part thanks to its baked goods – think sourdough, sausage rolls and cinnamon rolls, as well as a menu of classic brunch dishes and ‘goodness bowls’ filled with local and seasonal ingredients. Grab a seat in the courtyard when the sun is shining, or find a cosy corner during the winter months to fuel up before a day exploring the House and its grounds.
