Over the past few months, we’ve embraced the return of awards season with Award Season Picks. The member event series highlights the most anticipated releases of the season, with select screenings and in-person Q&A’s featuring actors, directors, producers, screenwriters and costume designers.

These events, which take place in our screening rooms around the globe, are an opportunity for industry talent to share their work – and for members to enjoy a complimentary Campari cocktail as they watch and listen.

One of November’s most exciting events saw Soho House West Hollywood host a pre-release screening of semi-autobiographical biopic Better Man, followed by an intimate Q&A with the film’s star, Robbie Williams, and director Michael Gracey.

Better Man is based on the story of Williams’ life. One of Britain’s most infamous pop stars, it follows his journey from childhood to becoming the youngest member of chart-topping boyband Take That and, later, a record-breaking solo artist – all while confronting the challenges that stratospheric fame and success can bring. Under the direction of Gracey (The Greatest Showman), the film takes an unexpected approach to telling the story, with Williams’ character portrayed as a chimpanzee, performed by actor Jonno Davies using the latest motion capture technology.

Throughout the month, we also hosted a selection of other exciting Awards Season Picks events at Soho House West Hollywood. These included The Wild Robot, with director and screenwriter Chris Sanders, actress Lupita Nyong'o and composer Kris Bowers; Blitz, with composer Hans Zimmer; The Fire Inside, with director Rachel Morrison; Wicked, with director of photography Alice Brooks, hair and makeup designer Frances Hannon, and costume designer Paul Tazewell; Didi, with director Sean Wang and actress Joan Chen; and September 5, with director Tim Fehlbaum and actor John Magaro. Elsewhere, we screened The Order at Soho House 76 Dean Street in London, followed by a Q&A with producer and actor Jude Law.
