When Florida’s cultural capitol swells beyond its usual densely packed crowd of designers, models, and fashion A-listers, you know Miami Swim Week is in town. This season, two of the industry’s hottest emerging brands took over Soho Beach House to debut their latest swim and beachwear designs.
London-based label Poster Girl presented an exclusive poolside preview of its second swim collection on Saturday. Citing nostalgia-meets-the-future as the inspiration for their collection, designers Francesca Capper and Natasha Somerville debuted disco-inspired dresses alongside the brand’s signature bold cutout costumes, with special guest Liana Satenstein – host of #NeverWorns – narrating on a bedazzled mic.
Satenstein has recently taken her Instagram Live interview session with fashion’s top talent – including designers such as Collina Strada and editors from GQ and Vogue – on the road. We took the opportunity to find out why.
‘I love the concept of doing it IRL and the mid-to-late 1990s fashion show reporting, like House of Style, with Cindy Crawford, and Behind the Velvet Rope, with Lauren Ezersky,’ Satenstein told us. ‘I find that many things these days are super slick and over-produced. People are craving something real that feels close to home; something that is more community-based and girl-next-door but still packed with information.’
While Poster Girl models adorned the poolside runway, independent, Big Apple-based swimsuit designer Maayan Sherris brought hand-printed, one-of-a-kind upcycled pieces created under her cult label, Sherris, in exclusive colour combinations. Needless to say, both labels made a big splash with Miami members keen to get their hands on their latest looks.
