Relocating from Austin for the first time, SXSW (South by Southwest) is heading to Sydney to host the iconic festival-meets-conference event. From Sunday 15 to Sunday 22 October, Soho House will take over The Old Clare Hotel in Chippendale, situated in the heart of Sydney and surrounded by art galleries and design studios.
Born in Texas, South by Southwest is dedicated to helping artists and entrepreneurs achieve their goals. It’s best known for celebrating tech, film, music, culture and education, featuring various showcases, film screenings and exhibitions, and providing opportunities for networking and professional development. Over the years, we’ve celebrated SXSW at Soho House Austin with a range of events loved by our members and guests. As the creative conference heads to Sydney – where we have a great Cities Without Houses community – it was only right that we went even bigger to mark the occasion and offer an exciting opportunity for Soho House members around the world.
During SXSW Sydney, the one-week Soho Residency will have three spaces, a ground-floor bar, a main restaurant and a rooftop pool and bar, where we will host daily programming and events. Members will be able to use the spaces like a House throughout the week, and attend daily events from creative mornings and industry mixers to House parties. And, thanks to our brand partners, including Bacardí, LVMH, Antler and Bowers & Wilkins, some of our favourite experiences in the Houses will find their way to Sydney.
Soho Residency will be accessible to members only – here’s what to expect:

Poolside House Party, Sunday 15 October
Kick off the week with a poolside House Party on the rooftop of The Old Clare Hotel, beginning at sunset with welcome drinks by Grey Goose.
