Inside our snowy awayday with Soho House Portland

The city of Portland is known for its creative community, diverse local food scene, and proximity to nature. It’s also the location of our newest House. With the official opening of Soho House Portland just around the corner, Founder members and guests celebrated by coming together for a snowy awayday, hosted in partnership with Perfect Moment.

The day began bright and early, as members met at the House. They were greeted with breakfast boxes of banana chocolate chip muffins, savoury pastries and fruit, as well as hot drinks from the club’s local coffee roaster, Upper Left, before boarding their shuttle for the 60-mile journey to Mount Hood, where the historic Timberline Lodge (which famously featured in Stanley Kubrick’s classic film, The Shining) is located. 

Upon arrival, members and guests gathered for a pre-slope styling session with Perfect Moment – local stylist Kate Webb ensured they were kitted out in jackets, ski pants, knitwear and gloves, many of which featured the brand’s signature houndstooth print. 

Next, the group hit the slopes, with options to try their hand at skiing, snowshoeing, and cat skiing (for which guests were transported away from the main slopes by snowcat to enjoy pristine backcountry powder). 

Having worked up an appetite, members and guests tucked into lunch, featuring a spread of salads, roast chicken and potato gratin, all washed down by special Perfect Moment cocktails. Before they knew it, it was 4pm – aka après-ski time, with members sipping on Picantes and Champagne around the fire pit, snapping shots in their Perfect Moment gear and vintage skis at the custom photo booth, and taking to the dance floor. 

As evening fell, the group was treated to a final gift to see them back to Soho House Portland: custom bags of Soho House x Perfect Moment coffee by Upper Left, and a box of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.
