Inside our International Women’s Day takeover at White City House

Powered by Porsche, our west London outpost played host to a jam-packed day of events that celebrated the life, legacy and trailblazing work of women far and wide – including those among our own global creative communities. 

From drinks provided by Rock Angel and a dinner cooked by some of the city’s most promising cooks to talks and live performances, here were some of our favourite moments.

Beauty brunch hosted by Athena Efstathiou (Goddess Beauty)
Celebrity makeup artist and beauty influencer extraordinaire, Athena Efstathiou, hosted a special brunch demonstrating how to prepare your skin before applying makeup using the Soho Skin range. On arrival, members and their guests were served complimentary glasses of rosé, courtesy of Rock Angel.

Kate Bryan in conversation with Maggi Hambling CBE and Sarah Lucas
Soho House’s Global Director of Art, Kate Bryan, interviewed legendary artists Maggi Hambling and Sarah Lucas about representation in the arts, feminism and Big Women, a new exhibition at Firstsite gallery curated by Lucas.

Big Women is on show at Firstsite in Colchester until Sunday 18 June.

‘Five’ all-star dinner
A five-course dinner was cooked and curated by some of London’s most exciting chefs: Adejoké ‘Joké’ Bakare (Chishuru), Mary-Ellen McTague (Eat Well MCR), Candice Brown (The Great British Bake Off) and Mursal Saiq (Cue Point). Plus, guests enjoyed drinks curated by mixologist Monica Berg (Tayēr + Elementary).

Ms. Dynamite and Lava La Rue
To round off a day of non-stop celebrations, White City House welcomed live performances from garage legend Ms. Dynamite and genre-bending indie artist Lava La Rue.
