Ms. Lauryn Hill and Mya took to the stage, making it a special week full of nostalgia

Last week, we celebrated Soho House’s 20th anniversary in North America with a series of parties and performances at our New York Houses, and the second annual Soho House Awards. To mark the occasion, we brought members and friends of the House back to the sounds of 2003 – the year it all started at Soho House New York.

Ms. Lauryn Hill
On Tuesday night, the Soho House New York rooftop played host to the iconic Ms. Lauryn Hill. The evening was nothing short of perfect as our very own Soho House Founder, Nick Jones, took the mic to introduce the artist and her live band to a packed crowd of media, Committee members, and friends of the House. Hill gave a performance featuring hits including ‘Doo Wop (That Thing)’, ‘Ex-Factor’, and ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You’. The nostalgia was palpable as she also sang the Fugees’ classic ‘Killing Me Softly With His Song’ and ‘Ready Or Not’. It was a night to remember.
Secret Sounds: Mya
As our members know, we love a surprise and delight moment at Soho House. Secret Sounds – our series of live performances where guests won’t know who is performing until the night of the event – came to Soho House New York during our anniversary week, and the surprise did not disappoint. Grammy Awards winner and musical icon, Mya, sang some of her iconic tracks from her famed career. The singer’s album Moodring, released in 2003, was a sonic snapshot of the very year that Soho House New York opened its doors.
