House Nights: recent events from around the world

The opening weeks of 2024 have been at our Houses, with a packed calendar of events for our members all over the world to enjoy. From a nostalgia-filled roller disco in Portland to Republic Day celebrations in Mumbai, scroll on to see what we’ve been up to – and don’t forget to check out our events calendar to see what’s happening near you.

Soho Skates, Soho House Portland
Our Portland members strapped on their skates for an old-school roller disco at the city’s Oaks Amusement Park. Ball-scene legends House of Ada performed, and DJ Deena B took to the decks, as members sipped on local beer and wine and tried their luck in the arcade.

Screen-acting masterclass with Ashley Walters, Shoreditch House
Our east London House welcomed Top Boy actor Ashley Walters in as part of an ongoing drama workshop series. The award-winning actor led members through an engaging session that introduced the craft of acting for the screen and explored the power and skill of bringing authenticity and depth to a performance.

Mood House sound bath and social, CWH Charlotte
Embracing all things wellness for the month of January, the Cities Without Houses Charlotte community came together at local massage and sauna studio Mood House. A fun, alcohol-free happy hour was followed by an immersive sound bath, led by a dedicated healer.

Lymphatic detox with Lab Tonica, Shoreditch House
Over in east London, members took part in a wellness session led by aromatherapy experts, Lab Tonica. The practice involved guided self-massage using herbal tonics designed to stimulate lymph nodes, improve circulation flow and boost lymphatic drainage.

Coffee and costume swap at The Chloe, CWH New Orleans
Committee member and costume connoisseur Swathi Narra joined Cities Without Houses New Orleans’ members at the boutique hotel, ahead of Mardi Gras. Headpieces, tulle capes, jumpsuits, and more found new homes as members left with new pieces to help them make the most of the celebrations.

Burns’ Night supper with The Dalmore, Babington House and Shoreditch House
In a celebration of Scottish poet Robert Burns, members joined us for traditional haggis suppers at Babington House and Shoreditch House, in partnership with The Dalmore. Each dish in the three-course meal was paired with a complementary The Dalmore whisky toast, while a live bagpipe performance set the mood.

Republic Day celebration, Soho House Mumbai
The annual holiday to mark India’s transition to becoming a republic was greeted at Soho House Mumbai with a host of events that celebrated traditional Indian culture. These included a Bharatanatyam recital performed by dancer Nidhi Dongre, and a performance of the Hindu classical music tradition Patiala gharana, by Dayal Singh Thakur, who was joined by Seema Noor to recite some of her favourite Urdu poems.

Dry January with Martini & Rossi, Ludlow House
The drinks’ brand hosted a No and Lo happy hour that invited members to sample its award-winning low-ABV and non-alcoholic aperitivos – the delicate, citrus-first Vibrante and the refreshing, floral Floreale.

New Year members’ dinner, CWH Philadelphia 
Cities Without Houses Philadelphia kicked off 2024 by coming together for a family-style dinner at Enswell, a restaurant concept from the team behind Rival Bros Coffee. Throughout the evening, members sipped on cocktails mixed using locally sourced spirits.

Benjamin Lumb Art House gallery tour, CWH Vancouver 
Our Cities Without Houses Vancouver members were treated to a private tour of the BLAH (as the gallery is otherwise known). The space prides itself on spotlighting new and emerging visual artists, with a predominant focus on photography, installations, and paintings.
