1. Vital Voices x Soho House: art as activism at Soho House New York
Vital Voices Global Partnership is a nonprofit founded on the simple idea that nations and communities cannot move forward without women’s voices in leadership positions. As a ‘venture catalyst’, Vital Voices invests in women leaders who are taking on the world’s greatest challenges to create a more equitable and sustainable future.

At this event, Vital Voices president and CEO, Alyse Nelson, is joined in conversation by Talita von Furstenberg, co-chairwoman of DVF, along with two Vital Voices network leaders: Sophie Sandberg, who is a gender justice activist, chalk artist, and the founder of Catcalls of NYC, a popular anti-street harassment initiative, and Ariela Suster, the founder and creative director of SEQUENCE, a socially impactful accessories line whose vibrant products are handcrafted by local artists in El Salvador. Join us as they reveal how they use their individual art forms to affect change in their communities. Our speakers explore the difference between supporting an aesthetic and being actively engaged in a movement, along with discussing the future of art as a catalyst for improving our world.

3. House Sessions: SwaVay at DUMBO House
SwaVay’s genre-traversing music is powered by a hard-earned confidence. Few MCs have the musical depth and dexterity of the Atlanta native, whose brand of soulful trap fusion has earned cosigns and collabs from artists across styles and sounds, from multi-platinum producer Metro Boomin to UK pop/ electronic/ R&B auteur James Blake. SwaVay’s upcoming release Almetha’s Son is richly varied and deeply real, encapsulating his relationship to his city while continuing to show off the many emotions and energies that he’s captured in his music so far.

4. Stranger At The Gate screening and Q&A at Ludlow House
Stranger At The Gate, Jury Prize winner at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and frontrunner for the Oscars, brings a very special documentary screening and Q&A to the Velvet Room. The film tells the remarkable true story of US Marine Richard McKinney, who plotted to blow up the Islamic Center in his hometown of Muncie, Indiana. Upon entering the mosque, he came face to face with people he intended to kill, and was transformed by their kindness and acceptance. In a nearly unbelievable twist, Richard converts to Islam and becomes president of the mosque. A true redemption story, the film is about the potential we have as a nation when we are kind and open to each other. Following the screening, director Joshua Seftel and the cast members, including Richard McKinney, will stick around to answer your questions.

9. Ludlow Halloween: Dancing Plague of 1518
Take a trip to the Dancing Plague of 1518 – a time where mass hysteria broke out and caused the population of France to suddenly start dancing uncontrollably until their days ran out. DJ Seth Troxler and friends set the vibe as we transform Ludlow House into a medieval castle, paying homage to this bizarre phenomenon. Grab a Bacardí drink on arrival (until 10pm) and be prepared to dance… but unlike in 1518, you’ll live to see another day. Tickets are $75 per person (plus tax and 20% gratuity) and include a welcome drink from Bacardí, a selection of small passed canapes from 8pm to 11pm, musical performances, and more. Bottle service tables are available for purchase – please contact halloween.ludlow@sohohouse.com for inquiries.
