From our five-year anniversary party to all the Diwali festivities, here’s what you missed at our Indian outpost

Over the last couple of weeks, Soho House Mumbai has seen a lot of celebrations. Not only did we mark Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, with dinners, candle-making workshops and parties, but we also celebrated five years since the House first opened its doors.
We kicked off November with our anniversary party, welcoming The Bartender band to help us celebrate in style. One of India’s most popular live Bollywood acts, they entertained our members with modern twists on iconic songs from popular vintage Hindi films. Guests let their hair down, Picantes in hand, until the early hours.
Next came Diwali, which we celebrated with a whole host of events for members and their families. At the Teeny Workshop, mini members decorated diyas – small colourful oil lamps traditionally lit during the festivities. Elsewhere, the House’s head chef created a special Mithai box – a selection of four sweets traditionally gifted and enjoyed around the holiday – which was added to the menu for the duration of the celebrations.
Finally, our Diwali party was the jewel in the crown of the House festivities. Taking place on Lakshmi Puja, the third of five days of Diwali and the primary day of celebrations, members arrived in their best traditional attire. Sequined saris and colourful kurtas complemented the House, which was decorated for the occasion with lights and candles. DJ Jay Weather kept guests dancing with Bollywood classics, and members were mesmerised by a rooftop fireworks display.
