Miami Art Week is in full swing, and we’ve never felt more excited to be there. There’s something about the energy this year that feels electric; the line-up of exhibits and installations is strong, and with them are the parties that follow. As always, we have a full slate of events at Soho Beach House to mark the occasion, so regardless of what you’re there for, we’ll be on hand to document the best of Basel.
Visit this page for updates on all the fun as the week progresses.
Saturday 26 November
We kicked off Art Basel with Peachfuzz, a nightlife series that brought its party to Miami for a takeover at the Soho Beach House tent.
Monday 28 November
On Monday, renowned artist Derrick Adams gave an afternoon artist talk as guests sipped on Armand de Brignac.
Samuel Albert Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III’s art collective FriendsWithYou also hosted a private lunch.
White Cube gallery held a collectors’ dinner that turned into a late-night party, featuring a surprise performance by Kelis.
Tuesday 29 November
On Tuesday night, Porsche hosted a party to celebrate the cultural pillars Basel is known for: art and music. The brand is supporting exciting installations throughout the week, but their showstopper was enlisting Rick Ross to perform for a packed house — with Chris Labrooy's inflatable Porsche installation forming the perfect backdrop.
Evian hosted a lunch on Tuesday to celebrate the launch of their new limited bottle with a special design created in collaboration with Balmain. The bottles, which guests received in custom gift bags, were placed beside past collaborative editions, including those designed with Paul Smith and Issey Miyake.
Wednesday 30 November
On Wednesday, art curator, writer and Soho House’s Global Director of Art, Kate Bryan, hosted an artist lunch in the tent. Guests gathered around banquet tables to sip on Rock Angel rosé and spend the afternoon with revered artists including Zoë Buckman, Hank Willis Thomas, and Delfin Finley. At night, Silent Addy and Major League DJz kept the party going.
Thursday 1 December
Bombay Sapphire kicked off Thursday with two insightful talks. The first brought ICA trustee Alex Witkoff in conversation with painter Andrea Marie Breiling, while the second featured CULTURED magazine’s winter cover star, Chance the Rapper. Some of the biggest names in Mexican art congregated at the House at night for the Vamos a la Playa design fair and party with Rimowa. The event saw a slew of musical talent, including DJ sets by Berrrakka, Joaquin and Ape Drums, as well as a live performance by Helado Negro.
Friday 2 December
The big event on Friday was the IYKYK party, which was hosted by MATTE Projects and RHONDA, with support from The Macallan. The tent was packed to see DJ sets by Mona Matsuoka and Hank Korsan, Hayes Bradley’s DJ outfit American Dance Ghosts, as well as the special guests of the night: Kaytranada and James Blake. Both artists performed DJ sets to keep the crowd partying all night.
