Barcelona Pool House

The Barcelona Pool House art collection comprises nearly 30 artists who were born, are based, or were trained in Barcelona. Consisting of over 80 artworks on permanent display, the site’s pre-existing historic murals and decorative motifs provide an intriguing juxtaposition with these contemporary works
The collection features museum-level names such as Eva Fàbregas and Regina Giménez, as well as emerging talents including Ana Monsó, Josep Maynou, and Rita Sala. Several works have been commissioned or selected to sit alongside the restored wall and ceiling decorations; Eva Fàbregas’s Polifilia series on paper in the parlour, and Madison Tyrell’s oil painting, which evokes the original garden frescoes nearby.
The study includes several works that approach portraiture in a variety of ways, such as the small snapshot-like paintings by Wang Pei. Artists have been chosen for the distinct historical quality of their work, such as the pair of Chidy Wayne pieces that face each other in the lounge. Others, like Rita Sala and Anna McNeil, reimagine art history by creating works that play with the distinction between abstraction and figuration. Some pieces are historic Catalan works: the well-known photographs of Xavier Miserachs and a print by one of the city’s masters, Antoni Tàpies.
