All the sounds, food and events you won’t want to miss at Gov Ball 2022

Thursday 9 June 2022    By Soho House

With new festivals debuting lineups seemingly every other week – each one stronger than the last – what sets Gov Ball apart is that it’s about more than just music. “Gov Ball is a festival for New Yorkers by New Yorkers,” says Alex Joffe, head of brand and media partnerships. “We create experiences that embody all of the integral cultural aspects of NYC: fashion, technology, culinary and community.”

The city’s premiere lineup of music, food and culture is taking place at Citi Field this weekend. Read on for Joffe’s not-to-be-missed highlights of the event.

Emerging music names you don’t want to miss:

Blu DeTiger
This up-and-coming artist’s talent knows no bounds: singer-songwriter, bass player, record producer, and DJ. DeTiger is a New Yorker through and through – born and raised in the city. After attending NYU Tisch School of the Arts, DeTiger began touring with other past and present Gov Ball artists, including Carline Polacheck, FLETCHER, and The Knocks. DeTiger went viral on TikTok over the course of the pandemic and is now taking the summer festivals and music industry by storm.

Coi Leray
The rap queen is paving her own way and rising quickly to the top of her genre. In late 2021, Leray’s single “Twinnem” was a TikTok sensation, bringing her more attention across all generations. While certainly not lacking in any genius herself, Leray has collaborated with masterminds of the music industry, including Nicki Minaj, Tyga, Ski Mask the Slump God, and many others. In 2021, she was nominated for best new hip hop artist at the BET Hip Hop Awards. Leray has also clearly gained the respect of her peers and collaborators, becoming a major priority at Republic Records, where she’s signed.

Almost Monday
Best friends Dawson Daugherty and Luke Fabry quickly transformed into the next pop trio to watch when they met their bandmate, Cole Clisby. The three West Coast boys headed east to Brooklyn in 2020 and wrote their debut album, Don’t Say You’re Ordinary. The boys have described their increasingly popular music as “indie pop, alt and rock with a windows-down summer vibe” – and we’re sure their fan base would agree. Shortly after landing a spot at Bonnaroo last year, Luke was quoted in Unclear Mag, saying, “I think it would be super cool to play Governors Ball. Such a cool festival and crazy location.” We are ecstatic to make that dream come true and be a small part of their impending rise to become one of the great bands of this generation.
