House Nights: Patti Smith wows Chicago

House Nights: Patti Smith wows Chicago | Soho House

The American music icon stopped by the House to share stories and sounds

Thursday 5 May 2022

Tuesday proved to be an unsuspecting legendary night at Soho House Chicago with the one and only Patti Smith performing an intimate hour-long set of words and music.

The New York City rock legend herself shared tales and accounts of her life, digging into the significance of her hits, including ‘Because The Night’, in between renditions of ‘After The Gold Rush’ and ‘One Too Many Mornings’. The crowd hung onto her every word, taking note of the unique on-stage bond between Smith and her guitarist and son, Jackson. He even started one of their hits a full key lower than the original, resulting in Patti bursting out laughing.

Taking place in the packed Drawing Room, the likes of Chicago Founder members Tereasa Surratt, Kristen Kaza, Vincent Uribe and Ingrid Henderson were all in attendance.
