When The Ned in London first opened its doors in May 2017, it was all anyone could talk about. A new members’ club in the heart of the finance district that had everything from restaurants and lounge spaces to wellness facilities and a high-tech gym under one roof, and part of the Soho House family. It was hailed a spectacle, a monument to luxury, a party palace that transformed the after-hours wasteland of the City into London’s dazzling new hotspot. It buzzed with life, brimming with fashionable types who like to look good in good-looking places. It continues to do so, too: step inside the former banking hall and into a vaulted world where there is an extraordinary hum unlike anywhere else, a place where every whim is catered for.

Well, friends, get ready to meet its glamorous sibling. This summer, The Ned is heading to Manhattan and taking up residency in the 1908 former Johnston Building in NoMad – a formidable limestone-faced landmark decorated with Beaux Arts motifs straight out of The Gilded Age. Inside, it will be just as impressive. Expect modish flair with a side of period opulence (the building will still retain some of its former architectural details) and an added helping of American glamour: jewel-toned velvets, Murano glass, marble floors, mahogany wood and that patina of downlit sensuality we’ve become renowned for – all there. All very cool.

Set across 12 storeys, there are plenty of places for members to dine, drink, dance, and relax. The lower two floors will be home to various restaurants and club spaces, and there are member-only eateries including the Club Grill: a sophisticated, wood-panelled restaurant with stained-glass windows and a menu boasting steak tartare, and flambé and grilled specialities.

If you fancy something a little more casual, head to Ned’s Club Bar – an open-plan lounge serving both food and mood, thanks to an atrium stage specifically for live music. Or The Little Ned, offering classic bar food from caviar to burgers and salads. Non-members will be able to access Cecconi’s on the ground floor. It’s a firm favourite for fans of northern Italian fare: cicchetti, wood-fired pizzas, seafood and pasta, and the finest wines to pair with them.

The crowning glory? A rooftop bar and terrace in the shadow of the Empire State Building serving House food and drink (and a side order of epic views). It’s here you’ll find the club’s iconic Johnston dome, which is available for private dining, if you’re feeling frivolous. Elsewhere, there’s an events space called the Magic Room, and the Library – a working area, resplendent in emerald green, that transforms into a chill-out room when the sun sets. The perfect place for a well-earned Picante after the day’s done, if you ask us.

If you need somewhere to sleep, there will be 167 bedrooms over 10 floors, available in categories ranging from cosy crash pads to suites with studies and studio apartments.

And if that wasn’t enough, in 2024, The Ned Exchange will take over the former American Stock Exchange Building downtown and become part of The Ned membership. Spanning 190,000 sq ft, and set over three floors, you’ll find a pool, a gym, wellness facilities, a major performance space, and additional drinking and dining establishments.

As the world gets ready to party this summer, why not consider membership to what’s anticipated to be the hottest spot in the city. Get ready, New York – we’re coming.
