Relax and recharge at our Soho Farmhouse Retreat

Relax and recharge at our Soho Farmhouse Retreat | Soho House

Escape to rural Oxfordshire for three days of food science, sound healing sessions and ice baths in our new Wellness Barn, in collaboration with Alo

Monday 27 November 2023 By Soho House

As part of our Soho Retreats series, we’re leaving the city and heading to Soho Farmhouse. From Tuesday 27 to Thursday 29 February, our home in the Cotswolds will be the setting, offering members the chance to get to know each other, while they unwind and reset in the idyllic Oxfordshire countryside.

Expect cold-therapy ice baths in our new Wellness Barn, warming soaks in the Lazy Lake, vegetarian family-style feasts by Ravinder Bhogal, restaurateur, chef and author of Comfort And Joy: Irresistible Pleasures From A Vegetarian Kitchen, plus Q&As on nutrition with Dr Federica Amati, science communications lead at personalised nutrition brand ZOE.

The retreat will kick off with a welcome drink and an intention setting session guided by Michael James Wong. Once you’ve checked in and freshened up, you’ll head to the Barwell Barn for a sound healing session and cacao ceremony using shamanic medicine and crystal bowls as a healing practice, led by artist and musician Kate Fleur Young. Post-meditation journaling follows, as well as a relaxing starlit walk. Dinner will be served in the Glasshouse: a healthy, plant-based feast from our in-house chefs.

Wednesday will begin slowly with a sunrise vinyasa yoga flow with Alo, followed by energy balls and smoothies to refuel. Then, work up a sweat with a fun HIIT workout with coach and movement director, Woz Warren, ahead of a well-deserved breakfast back in the Barwell Barn.

Next, stretch out and tone up in a Pilates class led by award-winning trainer to the stars, Louisa Drake, before trialling some homegrown herbal teas on a tour of the gardens with Soho Farmhouse Head Gardener, Katy Ayres. A Q&A session and a healthy lunch with Dr Federica Amati, who is the author of Better Menopause, will round out the morning.

Members will also have the opportunity to take part in a guided ice bath session in the new Wellness Barn followed by a wind-down in the Lazy Lake. Wednesday afternoon will be all about relaxation – Michael James Wong will lead a 60-minute breathwork class in the Glasshouse, before you sit down for a vegetarian family-style feast in the Barwell Barn, prepared by Bhogal. It will be based around the ethos of her popular book Comfort And Joy, with vegetarian dishes that indulge all of the senses in the form of fortifying curries, stews and sharing bites.

On Thursday, you’ll wake up to a slow stretching session with Alo, followed by a cardio and conditioning workout with Warren. The retreat will finish with a healthy breakfast, an intentions review, and closing reflections guided by Wong. Throughout the two days, you may also wish to book in for a 60-minute Sensory Sleep massage by Sensory Retreats, which was founded by local Soho Farmhouse member, Clare Anderson.
