As we continue our celebration of 20 years in the US, we meet some of the people who make our West Coast Houses hubs of creativity

When we consider what makes Soho House so special – our creative, talented and forward-thinking members – it’s little wonder that Los Angeles is home to four of our North American outposts. With bustling art, fashion and food scenes – plus, of course, a rich history of film and TV – the City of Angels is the destination for people who want to be where it’s all happening.

We opened our first LA-based House – Soho House West Hollywood – back in 2010. Little Beach House Malibu, Soho House Holloway and Soho Warehouse in Downtown LA soon followed, each offering members a slice of something different. And, as we celebrate our 20th anniversary in the USA, we thought it was time we shone a light on some of the faces that bring the vibes to each of our clubs across LA.

Read on to meet the members – and find out what makes their local Houses so special to them.

Actor, filmmaker and DJ

How long have you been a member?
‘Since 2016, just over seven years.’

Why is Soho House special to you? And what makes your US House unique?
‘It’s always been at the forefront of cool; members are true tastemakers. It feels like a space to access endless amounts of opportunities. What sets West Hollywood apart is its status as the OG California House; many members have been part of it for years. Walking in, I always feel like I’m reuniting with family.’

How do you spend your time at Soho House? Any standout moments?
‘I embrace Soho House’s full offering – attending screenings, workshops, networking events, and brunches, while also maintaining a regular DJ presence.

‘Meeting my wife stands out as the most incredible and significant moment for me. Another amazing memory is the screening of my first short film, Grimshaw. The gracious WeHo team allowed us to showcase it, followed by a Q&A session sponsored by Peroni. I’ve also had the privilege of DJing at four New Year’s Eve events and countless Halloween parties. These experiences at Soho House West Hollywood have really elevated my DJ career, connecting me with amazing clients and taking my artistic journey to the next level.’

How long have you been a member?
‘For nine years.’

Why is Soho House special to you? And what makes your US House unique?
‘It’s special to me because it was one of the very first places where, as an adult, I felt that I was welcomed and celebrated for who I am. That remains true to this day. I think that West Hollywood will always be a unique House as it’s – literally – in the centre of the entertainment universe. And the energy of it is unlike anywhere else in the world.’

How do you spend your time at Soho House? Any standout moments?
‘My time at the House is split between dining and events that celebrate the belonging and identity of our membership. I’ve had so many standout moments – from my yearly birthday dinner parties overlooking the city, to hosting Soho Shabbat dinners, to my time spent as an inaugural member of the international Inclusivity Board. But one of my favourite moments in recent years was West Hollywood’s dinner celebrating the transgender membership of the House. It was so special.’

How do you spend your time at Soho House? Any standout moments?
‘It’s my home away from home, I go there as often as possible. I love to invite people from out of town. They always love coming there.’

Why is Soho House special to you? And what makes your US House unique?
‘I’ve met so many amazing people here over the years, many of whom I’ve collaborated with on projects and events. Soho House has helped me to feel at home all over the world. I’ve got to know London, Barcelona, Berlin and so many other cities thanks to my stays at the Houses.’

How do you spend your time at Soho House? Any standout moments?

‘I’ve been a member for so many years that it’s hard to say. Perhaps some of my favourite times have been when I’ve gone on trips together with other members. One time at Soho House New York, I attended a gorgeous glamping weekend upstate. Everything was so well done and intimate. I also love when I go to a new House and see people I know from all over the globe. It gives me that “small world” feeling.’

Why is Soho House special to you? And what makes your US House unique?
‘It’s a home away from home. Everyone is so welcoming and the Soho Warehouse community feels like family.’

How do you spend your time at Soho House? Any standout moments?
‘I usually spend full days at Soho Warehouse, starting in the gym in the morning, then heading to the garden – one of my favourite places to work. I’ll get a smoothie or daily lunch special while taking calls in a comfortable environment. If I have to have a meeting or I’m catching up with friends, then I love going up to the sixth-floor restaurant before watching the sunset at the rooftop pool.’

Why is Soho House special to you? And what makes your US House unique?
‘Soho Warehouse is a family – real love, real genuine people. Everyone really sees one another. It’s so diverse that everyone feels at home and no one ever seems left out. The staff are amazing, too.’

How do you spend your time at Soho House? Any standout moments?
‘I love working out and hitting the steam room afterwards. I’ll get ready, go upstairs and order the butter chicken. Then, I'll take a meeting or see a friend. My routine is a vibe.’

Kenny Mac, Soho Warehouse
Creative consultant and vice president of brand and culture at StockX

How long have you been a member?
‘I've been a proud member since 2012.’

Why is Soho House special to you? And what makes your US House unique?
‘Soho House isn’t just a club; it’s a vibrant tapestry woven with the threads of global creativity. With every House having its own unique flavour, I’ve found my creative kin here. It’s like stepping into a cosy, eclectic home every time I walk through the doors of any House.

‘Soho Warehouse is a symphony of diversity, a haven where different races, identities and career paths come together to create a mosaic of ideas. It’s a melting pot of inspiration that fuels my creative fire. Plus, the team throws some unforgettable parties.’

How do you spend your time at Soho House? Any standout moments?
‘Fridays are my sacred days at Soho Warehouse. I’m an early bird – hitting the gym for a steamy start, then embracing my inner green thumb in the garden. But the real magic happens on the rooftop, where my Warehouse gang gathers for those non-transactional chats that fuel the soul.

‘My No Man Curse crew and I curate a monthly Sunset Sound bashment. Imagine a rooftop transformed into a paradise of reggae, soca, reggaeton, amapiano, and more. It’s a dance-worthy homage to the diasporic beats that’s all about good vibes and even better company.’
