Embark on a food journey at our Soho Retreat in Rome

What’s a visit to Rome without immersing yourself in the flavours that have long made the Eternal City a mecca for food lovers everywhere? It is quite simply one of the world’s great culinary capitals – which makes Soho House Rome the perfect base for our next food-focused members’ retreat. 
 
Taking place from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 March, the retreat invites members into the heart of the city’s iconic food culture – think focaccia, pizza al taglio (a style of pizza native to Rome), espresso and wine. 

The three-day trip promises to serve up a full Italian experience and showcase the best of the city’s food scene with expert guidance every step of the way. Highlights includes a street-food tour led by Michelin-starred chef Davide Puleio, a traditional dinner in the private cellar at Pierluigi (one of Rome’s oldest restaurants), and a guided tasting of local wines at Rimessa Roscioli.  

The escape begins with aperitivo at Soho House Rome on Friday afternoon. From there, it’s straight to the former pasta factory Fondazione Pastificio Cerere, where you will learn to make classic aperitivo such as bruschetta and panzanella in a workshop hosted by chef Veronica Paolillo, with a Negroni to enjoy alongside. Then it’s back to the House for a family-style dinner at Cecconi’s Terrazza hosted by Giacomo Maccioni, who has been with Cecconi’s since 1990.
 
Saturday morning begins with a tour of the city’s hotspots, as selected by Soho House members, on a traditional Italian Vespa (or a Cinquecento car in case of rain). Michelin-starred chef Davide Puleio will then lead a street food tour where you can expect to sample focaccia, suppli (a risotto snack similar to arancini), maritozzi (cream buns) and traditional Roman-style pizza. A stop at Rimessa Roscioli will follow, for an expert-led tasting of local wines, before a four-course dinner – paired with wine – in the private cellar of Pierluigi, where you can indulge in pasta dishes such as Gnochetto with cacio e pepe, fried artichoke and black truffle.
 
After breakfast on Sunday, Soho House Head Bartender Gianluca di Palma will demonstrate how to perfect an Italian coffee, and Patrick Pistolesi – owner of Drink Kong, which awarded a spot in the 2023 list of top-50 international bars by The World’s 50 Best Bars Academy – will guide you through how to make a world-class Negroni. We finish the escape with the Soho House Sunday Feast – an unlimited meal made with seasonal and local produce that includes Italian favourites such as lasagna, Sorrentine-style gnocchi, polenta and homemade desserts.
