One falls in love with Barcelona fast: for its leafy boulevards and long golden stretch of beach; for the blend of Catalan and Spanish cultures, which flourished in its unique architecture and art, and for the international vibrant crowd in tireless pursuit of pleasure. But to truly know the Catalonian capital, this is an entirely different matter. We asked Barcelona native, fashion consultant and mentor, Miquel Angel, to shed light on some of the city’s hidden gems, style, and spirit.

Favourite local dish and where to eat it?
‘Paella, for sure. And the place to go is a beautiful restaurant next to the beach called La Doncella.’

The ideal evening itinerary?
‘A long walk from the House by La Rambla with its colourful character, followed by Passeig de Gràcia to see the contrast with all the luxury shops and modernist buildings. Then head to Les Filles, a small restaurant with a charming terrace to enjoy nice food and drinks. After that, check out Dry Martini, one of the most emblematic cocktail bars in the city and decide if you want to continue the night or save your energy for the next day.’

Long, lazy alfresco lunch spots?
Mirablau, Terraza Martinez, Belvedere, and Jardín del Alma.

Favourite spot within walking distance of the House?
‘If you like cocktails, Paradiso will surprise you in many different ways.’
