As we celebrate the return of summer holidays with 25% off stays at selected European Houses, we’re giving you a recap of everything you need to know about our clubs on the continent. Next on the list: Germany’s capital

The going-out embargo of the past two years was tough for everyone – but you get the sense that Berlin would have felt it more keenly than most. After all, this is a city that lionises partying, freedom, self-expression, and the search for the new and unknown like no other.

With socialising back on the agenda and summer just around the corner, Berlin is buzzing. The warmer months are all about going out and staying out: parks are plentiful (think Tempelhof, Tiergarten, Volkspark Hasenheide, and Körnerpark) and weekends are packed with open-air club and music events (OXI, Anomalie, Else, and Club OST, among many others). And for those moments where you feel like getting back to nature, the city is surrounded by lakes that provide the perfect day-trip escape.

Group chats are currently dominated by talk of one of Berlin’s heavy hitter events: Rave The Planet. Formerly known as Love Parade, the world’s largest techno party has been on hiatus since 2006, and the excitement around its relaunch has reached fever pitch. There’s also much discussion about which festivals are making the cut this summer, with Melt, Whole, Garbicz, and Nation of Gondwana all garnering attention. Partying is front and centre – of course – but with its return has come a joy and optimism that’s been missing in recent years; a sense of community that’s helping the city to heal after a difficult few years.

Soho House Berlin is all about creating a similar sense of community, and has become a cornerstone of a burgeoning creative hub with socialising, connection, and self-care at its heart. Set over eight floors of a restored Bauhaus building in the Mitte district, it offers a rooftop pool, restaurants and bars, a screening room, a full Cowshed spa, and Soho Health Club. Plus, The Red Room in the basement hosts live music and events. Here’s everything you need to know about our House in the German capital.

The architecture, interiors, and art

Soho House Berlin is designed in the Bauhaus style, with exposed concrete and high ceilings, and large chandeliers in the lobby and the seventh-floor club area.

For the interiors, Susie Atkinson worked closely with Nick Jones and art curator Francesca Gavin to reference Berlin in the 1920s. Art Deco and Bauhaus influences feature throughout the space, alongside the traditional British details that Soho House is known for.

Gavin also curated the art collection, sourcing works that evoke the mood of 1920s Berlin. The collection features a piece depicting the history of the building, as well as a large work by Damien Hirst in the lobby area.

The bedrooms

The club features 65 bedrooms of varying sizes, as well as 20 apartments and some lofts, designed specifically for longer stays. The two and three-bedroom apartments offer king and oversized beds with Egyptian cotton sheets, a walk-in rainforest shower and bathtub, and a living space with a kitchen and dining table.

The Store X Studio

The Store X spans the lower levels of the House, and is a place to eat, relax, and shop. Open to the public as well as members, the 30,000 sq ft space is complete with colourful rugs and mix-and-match furniture. But it’s not just for shopping: visitors can enjoy organic dishes at the Store Kitchen, or a pampering session at an outpost of the British salon, Barber & Parlour, while the culturally curious might head for the art installations, the record shop, or the library.

It also features the Store X Studio, a creative space where Soho House and Soho Friends members can bring up to three guests to eat, drink, and collaborate. They can also host their own events and workshops – from kitchen takeovers to pop-ups, there’s lots to discover.
