Ten ways to rediscover Brighton Beach House

Since opening in May 2022, Brighton Beach House has seen members sunbathing by the banana-shaped pool, letting loose at Pride parties and dining on local seafood. Set across two floors, the main club space is located in a glass-fronted building that looks out across the English Channel, and draws inspiration from the Art Deco architecture, the bustling hub of creatives and Brighton’s large LGBTQIA2S+ community. 

Here are 10 reasons to love Brighton Beach House even more than you already do. 

1. The brand-new gym 
We’ve just introduced a 12,000 sq ft gym overlooking the sea. It features free weights and cardio areas with TechnoGym equipment, an infra-red sauna and steam room, showers and changing rooms, and flow and strength studios for classes. There is also a bar and retail space where you can wind down with a coffee or a shake after your workout.  

2. The off-site fitness clubs
A key part of our fitness offering is the weekly run club, led by a professional trainer who helps members improve their running technique and speed. If running isn’t your thing, you can opt for a complimentary paddleboarding session (plus a guest) at Brighton Watersports, or a session at ROX Life and Reformer Collective in Hove. With the arrival of the new gym, there will be a new daily timetable of classes, including Yoga, Pilates, Strength and HIIT. 

3. The largest collection of queer art on permanent display
Guest curated by queer art specialist Gemma Rolls-Bentley, the Brighton Beacon Collection in the House is the largest collection of queer art in the UK. The assemblage includes some of today’s most influential artists, such as David Hockney, Helen Cammock, Elmgreen & Dragset, Hal Fischer, Sunil Gupta, Maggi Hambling, Isaac Julien, Sin Wai Kin, Catherine Opie, Christina Quarles, and Wolfgang Tillmans. 

4. The collaborations with local businesses 
Brighton Beach House always looks to work with local businesses. Currently we have partnerships with Beach Box Spa, ROX Life, Reformer Collective, The Brighton Zip, Brighton Watersports, and Sea Lanes Brighton. 

5. The banana pool
A focal point of the House, the sea-facing pool was designed by local artist David Shrigley. Not only is it in the shape of a banana, but it also has a banana printed on the bottom in signature Shrigley style.  

6. The activities for little ones
On weekends, we have a supervised arts and crafts table for children to get creative and have fun, so parents can them drop off while they enjoy the House.

7. The music events
We have a varied programme of member events every month, including musical performances. In recent months, we have seen the likes of Sister Sledge, Sam Ryder, Bimini, Laura Mvula, Horse Meat Disco, Fat Tony and Macy Gray, plus a Q&A with Nile Rodgers. 

8. The Lofts
A wide range of event spaces available for private hire, the Lofts are set across the ground floor, featuring a modular open-plan kitchen, five private Lofts, lounge areas, and a sea-view terrace. These can be booked by members for all types of events, from an intimate weekend in Brighton to a large party for a special occasion.

9. The Beach Boxes
We’ve partnered with Beach Box Spa to offer our members a chance to unwind in the sauna, or take a cold plunge with one complimentary session a month at Beach Box Spa on Brighton beachfront. Plus, enjoy two-for-one rates on all other visits when joined by a guest.

10. The water vessel assemblage 
One of the key artworks in the Local Collection is an assemblage of water vessels, each marked with a logo of a particular House. Located at reception, ‘House Waters’ is an installation by Brighton-born artist Tania Kovats. She has created a conceptual group portrait of Soho Houses around the world, featuring more than 30 water vessels containing water drawn from the closest source to each site. For example, the Soho House Mumbai water has been collected from Juhu Beach by a local member, Soho House Amsterdam’s from Westertoegang Canal and Babington House’s from Kilmersdon Brook.
