Meet the members of Barcelona Pool House

As we prepare to open our new wellness-focused club in Spain, get to know some of the faces at the heart of the local creative community

The opening of Barcelona Pool House is just around the corner. As our third location in this vibrant city, it will have a different flavour to the cosy seaside retreat of Little Beach House and the grand pink facade of our original location, sandwiched between the iconic Gothic Quarter and Barceloneta Beach.
Located in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district, on the historic street of Avinguda del Tibidabo, Barcelona Pool House is set inside a former Catalan family home originally built in the 1900s. Designed as an escape for members to focus on wellness, the House will include a gym, treatment rooms, a 14m outdoor pool and a garden, plus two floors of club space with a bar and restaurant terrace. But it’s our established community of members who will make this House unique.
Here, we meet a few of our members in the city, who share what they’re looking forward to most and what the new House will bring to the local area.

Carla Cascales, visual artist
‘I’m a Barcelona-based artist and my practice is heavily influenced by Mediterranean identity, moving fluidly between sculpture, painting, and installation. I’ve been a Soho House member since 2022 and what I love most is the sense of calm as soon as you walk in. It immediately feels like a space where you can focus: it’s as if the noise of the city softens the moment you enter, and that’s something I really appreciate. I especially love the terraces, where you can enjoy a sense of openness and take in the horizon.
‘What I love about Barcelona is that it is a city of balance. It has the sea, but the mountains are also close by. It’s not small, but not overwhelmingly big, either; you can get around everywhere by bike. The climate is never too extreme. Most of all, it makes you feel welcome.
‘For me, Soho House is a community of inspiring people, where meaningful personal and professional connections naturally happen. It’s the feeling of truly belonging to a network. I’m passionate about what I do and always curious to collaborate or exchange perspectives, and Soho House feels like the perfect place for that.’

Wekaforé Maniu Jibril, multidisciplinary designer
‘I was born in Lagos and grew up in Dubai. My work spans fashion, music, and design – all rooted in storytelling and cultural memory. Through my brands – Wekaforé and the Voodoo Children’s Club – I explore themes of identity, nostalgia and futurism, blending African heritage with contemporary expression in a way that feels both personal and universal. I moved to Barcelona because of the colour I saw in the city.
‘I’ve been a Soho House member for over five years now and Barcelona Pool House will be a breath of fresh air in the city; another look into the culture Soho House is building in Barcelona. Plus, the views are exceptional. You’ll most likely find me boxing at the gym or sweating out my thoughts in the sauna. Or, in the bar with a Soho Mule – I’m not a big drinker, so the ginger in it massages my conscience a little bit.
‘I’ve had a few great dates at Soho House, but I’d say my best memories are from a long time ago when I used to come in with the original Voodoo Children’s crew, making the most of our Under 27 benefits. Because I live very close to Soho House Barcelona, checking in there has become my morning routine. This has brought a type of structure in my life that I didn’t have before… so essentially it’s become part of my emotional and mental stability.’

Miriam Almanzar, interiors stylist
‘I was born in the Dominican Republic, raised in New York City, and eventually landed in Barcelona. My life has always been shaped by creativity. During my pregnancy with my son, I devoted myself to interior styling and recently opened Bloque 8 – an incredible 1,200m rental space in Can Batlló where we host many artistic events, including the afterparty for the opening of the Louis Vuitton boutique in Paseo de Gracia.
‘I’ve been a Soho House member since 2016. You’ll find me all over the House – I love how friendly and welcoming everyone is, and my favourite place is the screening room. I often go there by myself, but always find someone I know to sit down with and enjoy a movie together. The new Barcelona Pool House looks beautiful; I’m most excited for the treatment rooms. But I can rarely pass up the opportunity for a Dirty Burger and sweet potato fries with a Picante. My best memories are the Halloween parties, and the one time that a Committee meeting coincided with my birthday.
‘I love Barcelona, not just because of the wonderful Mediterranean diet, but I love to jog or walk down to the beach. I head out from my building towards the Arc de Triomf, listening to music and run through the Ciutadella Park – I forget everything.’

Chidy Wayne, multidisciplinary artist
‘I’m an artist, working primarily in painting and sculpture, based in Barcelona. I’ve just become a member since my artworks were acquired for the new House in town, and I’m most excited about the building itself – it’s a true testament to the city’s Modernist era.
‘I once gave a talk at Soho House Barcelona, and by sharing my story I got to rediscover some important parts of my practice as an artist. It was beautiful seeing so many people showing interest in my artistic process. At the new House, I’m sure you’ll find me at the photo booth taking some portraits that I’ll later use in my paintings.
‘Beyond Soho House, I love the effect this city has on people, and how people fall in love with it. I feel honoured that two of my paintings will be part of the new Barcelona Pool House art collection. Go, sit in front of them and let me know what you felt.’

Cósima Güell, cofounder of Rassa Botanicals
‘I was born in Barcelona into a family deeply rooted in culture, where art, music and literature was part of everyday life. My background in dramatic arts and interior design led me to explore creativity through multiple disciplines – from founding a relocation and interiors service in London, to co-creating an online furniture flash sales company, and later launching my own home textiles brand. Five years ago, I cofounded Rassa Botanicals, a holistic skincare brand rooted in the belief that beauty is not just something we apply – it’s something we cultivate through consciousness, ritual and wellbeing.
‘What excites me the most about the new opening is the entire wellbeing offering. The fact that the Pool House will include thermal areas, a sauna and dedicated treatment rooms feels incredibly aligned with my lifestyle and my work at Rassa, which is centered around holistic self-care. I’m thrilled that this part of the city will now have a space where you can not only relax and recharge, but also gather with others, enjoy culture and celebrate community through wellbeing.
‘Soho House, to me, is more than just a place – it’s a feeling. It’s that blend of creativity, comfort and community, where every detail feels thoughtful but never forced. It’s a space that inspires connection, whether through conversation, art, or simply sharing a meal. Walking into Soho House always brings back memories of slow, meaningful moments, and it continues to feel like a home away from home, where the city’s energy and culture come alive in the most natural, relaxed way.’

Jaime Rubiano, creative director and fashion consultant
‘I was born in Colombia and now split my time between Barcelona and Paris. I specialise in multidisciplinary image direction within the worlds of fashion, architecture, beauty, and luxury. I’ve been a Soho House member since the summer of 2023 and I recently had the chance to explore the new Pool House before its opening – I’m excited to say that the space is an architectural gem.
‘Both Houses in Barcelona are fantastic, but some of the best moments have been at Little Beach House, with its idyllic landscape. Soho House means creative sanctuary to me. I’m a bit of a fitness aficionado, so you’ll usually find me between the pool terrace and the gym. Plus, I’m a purist at heart, so my go-to drink is usually a really good mezcal or tequila on the rocks with fresh lime.
‘Barcelona is a place that offers the perfect balance of city and nature. I adore the contrast it provides, which is essential for any creative person. Also, the Catalan culture that permeates its day-to-day life, the thriving wellness scene, the multicultural energy, the food, and the closeness to La Costa Brava make for an ideal lifestyle.’
