Specialising in dishes from the robata grill, the izakaya-style dining spot arrives on New York’s Lower East Side

Since its opening at Soho Farmhouse in 2015, Pen Yen has become a fixture at a number of Houses, including Shoreditch House and White City House in London. And now we’re welcoming the first outpost of the restaurant outside of the UK at New York’s Ludlow House in March.

Found on the fourth floor of the club, the restaurant is open from 5pm to 11.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday. Serving izakaya-style Japanese dishes – comprising small plates and snacks – the menu’s mix of existing member favourites and new dishes is made to share.

Pen Yen’s speciality dishes are cooked on the robata grill, over hot Japanese binchotan charcoal on a wide, open fireplace. Alongside bao buns, sushi and sashimi, members will find meat and vegetables with a delicate charred flavour. Be sure to try the tender Black Cod served with a sharp saikyo miso dip – it's a firm favourite for good reason.

The restaurant opens on Friday 1 March, with table bookings available to members now.
