Jo Addy's Awards Season Picks: The Trial Of The Chicago 7

Next up in our Awards Season Picks series is screenwriter and director Aaron Sorkin and actor Sacha Baron Cohen. They chat to award-winning host Dave Karger about their Netflix film The Trial Of The Chicago 7
By Gisselle Babaran
After earning six Oscar® nominations, The Trial Of The Chicago 7’s screenwriter and director, Aaron Sorkin, joins Sacha Baron Cohen to talk about the historical drama film with Dave Karger.
Using the 1969 Chicago Seven trial as its backdrop, the movie follows the lives of the anti-Vietnam War activists charged with conspiring to incite a riot at the previous year’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Baron Cohen plays Abbie Hoffman – the founding member of the Youth International Party (Yippies). An extremely timely film, The Trial Of The Chicago 7 explores the undeniable parallels between the past and the cultural reckonings of the present.
Watch the conversation as they discuss why Sorkin cast Baron Cohen, the challenges of bringing Abbie Hoffman’s character to life, and what Baron Cohen enjoyed most about his performance.
