The Weekender: The top five coolest things to do in North America

Head to the Houses to check out performances by BANKS and PHABO, and celebrate Miami Pride with us
Thursday 7 April 2022
1. House Sessions: BANKS at Soho Warehouse on Friday
BANKS visits Soho Warehouse for a special performance to present her highly anticipated fourth album, SERPENTINA. The American singer-songwriter, producer, poet and director is pushing herself into uncharted territory — from sound to lyrics to visuals. ‘In the past, I’ve been really tight and controlled, and I don’t feel like that right now,’ she says. ‘I just feel more wild and free.’

2. EXPO CHICAGO: in conversation with Dawoud Bey in Chicago on Friday
As part of our offsite EXPO CHICAGO collaboration, join us for a conversation with Dawoud Bey. The photographer’s series In This Here Place presents images made in and around the landscapes of five plantations in Louisiana: Destrehan, Evergreen, Laura, Oak Alley, and Whitney – locations in which the history of enslavement still hangs in the air.
In conversation with the Aperture Foundation’s executive director, Sarah Meister, Bey discusses this project along with other recent history-based work that examines aspects of the African American past embedded in the US landscape. The conversation will be followed by a book signing in the Soho House Snug inside the /Dialogues area. Stop by and say hello to members and the membership team.
Please note: this event is located offsite at EXPO CHICAGO. Click here for a spot.

3. Soho Rising: PHABO in Toronto on Friday
Soho Rising is our platform for championing the best emerging talent around, giving you the chance to see the stars of tomorrow first. Previous guests have included Arlo Parks and Moses Boyd, and now we’re excited to host a set by PHABO, an LA-based R&B musician with roots in St Petersburg, Florida.
