Soho House Tokyo is now open

With our first outpost in Japan – and 50th club globally – now officially welcoming members, we look back at some of the fun we’ve had getting there

It’s important to us that our Houses feel very much like a home from home to its members right from the start. That’s why in the months leading up to the opening of Soho House Tokyo, we’ve been hosting a series of pre-opening events – both in the House itself and at select venues across the city – that have been designed to bring our local community together with an aim to do just that.
From one-off dining experiences to fitness and wellness-related events – such as our weekend-long celebration in honour of the Tokyo Marathon – here are some of the other pre-opening events our members enjoyed in the build-up to opening our first House in Japan.

Wax Tales
In late 2025, we brought a special edition of Wax Tales – our music and conversation series that invites a surprise guest to select and discuss 12 records that have influenced their life, work and success – to the city for the first time. For our Tokyo edition, TV and radio presenter Shaula Vogue was joined by two New York-based Japanese artists: jazz musician and keyboardist BIGYUKI and graffiti artist MADSAKI.
Both artists are known for their genre-bending styles: BIGYUKI’s fusion take on jazz blends everything from classical to hip-hop to electronica sounds, while MADSAKI is known for his colourful, spray-painted takes referencing art history and popular culture. In a discussion led by Vogue, they revealed the records that have shaped their lives and influenced their creativity, with live music accompanying their choices.
Yoga with Harper, in partnership with Alo
LA-based yoga instructor, meditation teacher and hypnotherapist, Harper Botorowicz, led a special yoga and mindfulness session in our new Wellness Studio at Soho House Tokyo. Created in partnership with Alo, it was an opportunity for those in attendance to enjoy an early taste of what to expect ahead of its official opening.
Designed for mat-based classes, including Pilates and yoga, the timber-floored studio – which is also home to an open gym space with Paragon equipment – features bespoke washi-patterned wallpaper, carved timber-detailed wall mirrors, and floor-to-ceiling windows with views across Aoyama-dori. Designed as a calming space, it was the perfect setting for the classic flow class Botorowicz led participants through, and the candlelit meditation that followed.

The House Shaped By Her
International Women’s Day offered another opportunity to bring our Tokyo community together – this time at the city’s historic Kudan House. The House Shaped By Her was an afternoon-long event showcasing the sensibilities and creative expressions of women across a series of curated spaces, including a library and specially designed lounge offering Soho House’s signature afternoon tea.
Other highlights included a mindfulness and yoga session led by Nami Yoga Studio, live music by folk singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Ichiko Aoba, and an art installation by underwater and subaquatic artist and freediver, Ai Futaki. It was an opportunity for visitors to slow down, wander, and connect – with themselves as well as their fellow attendees.
Pool dinners
As the House opening drew nearer, we hosted more events that offered guests an opportunity to experience everything that Soho House Tokyo has to offer – two highlights of which had to be the rooftop dinners held in the pool (emptied of water, of course) across two consecutive nights in March. With views that extend to Tokyo Tower, the infinity-style pool offers what’s sure to become one of the ultimate sunset spots in the city.
Both evenings began with cocktails and DJ sessions, before guests took their places in the pool – which features a custom-tiled design, created in collaboration with Tajimi Custom Tiles. Against the backdrop of Tokyo’s night-time cityscape, they enjoyed a special family-style dinner created for the occasion by Soho House’s Executive Chef Richard McLellan, with House drinks pairings accompanying each course, followed by DJs and dancing into the night.
Pre-opening party with Onitsuka Tiger
The rooftop and pool were also the setting for our final pre-opening event. Held in partnership with Japanese streetwear brand Onitsuka Tiger – which we partnered with to create the uniforms worn by the Soho House Tokyo team – it featured special presentations, including a bespoke shoe customisation station, live performances, and music.
Guests enjoyed signature House Tonics and cocktails, plus pass-around food showcasing our Tokyo club menu. Alongside these was a one-off, specially curated drinks menu featuring Suntory products, designed to elevate Japanese heritage storytelling. From poolside DJs to the live band playing in the club, it was a night of music and celebration that set the tone for all that’s to come ¬– and we can’t wait for you to experience it for yourself the next time you visit Tokyo.
