Panel: All Pain, No Play? Queer Joy on Pause
Soho House Mumbai
In Mumbai, we kicked off Pride Month with a critical and lively discussion unpacking why contemporary Indian queer films often center on oppression narratives, such as trauma, shame and invisibility – and how we can push for stories that celebrate queer joy and love. Joined by actors Negha Shahin and Manish Gandhi, filmmakers Mozez Singh and Varsha Panikar and writer Parmesh Shahani, the conversation sought to challenge audiences to reimagine representation and demand more nuanced, multidimensional storytelling in the industry.
