House Nights: Prateek Kuhad celebrates his new album with a performance at Soho House Mumbai
On Thursday, the singer played a heartfelt selection of ballads from his new album ‘The Way That Lovers Do’

Prateek Kuhad’s luminous, sensual ballads are quick to find a way into his listeners’ hearts. Originally from the northern city of Jaipur, Kuhad is praised as one of the most exciting names in Indian music, while also having a sizeable global following. Even former US president Barack Obama is a fan: in 2019 he added the break-up anthem ‘Cold/Mess’ to his annual list of favourite songs.
Singing in Hindi and English, Kuhad explores the intricacies of human relationships – themes such as intimacy, friendship, love, and affection. The artist, who cites Elliott Smith as a major influence, studied in New York where he truly blossomed musically and toured around the States. In the years since, Kuhad moved back to India, but has continuously spent time playing and recording in numerous US cities.
To celebrate his third studio album, The Way That Lovers Do (Elektra Records), Kuhad gave a heartfelt performance at Soho House Mumbai.
