House Nights: Rising star Gareth.T celebrates the release of his new album at Soho House Hong Kong
Last weekend, the artist brought his fans back to school with the listening party of his debut LP ‘To Be Honest’

Born and raised in Hong Kong, the singer-songwriter began his music journey when he was required to take up an instrument while at elementary school. Choosing both piano and violin, a young(er) Gareth.T – real name Gareth Tong – became something of a teenage prodigy. Moving to the US to study at Berklee College of Music, Tong honed in on his singing and songwriting, and developed a knack for producing beats, too. After graduating, he moved back to his hometown, signing to Warner Music’s Hong Kong label in 2021 at just 20 years old.
Spending the better part of a year producing and songwriting in the studio, the now 22-year-old Tong recently released his debut album, To Be Honest – a nine-track LP of distinctly soft vocals and sincere lyricism. To celebrate, he held a listening party at Soho House Hong Kong with an elementary school theme, a nod to his progression from prodigious schoolboy to up-and-coming star.
