Celebrating five years of Soho House Hong Kong

Take a look inside all of the talks, parties and pop-ups we hosted to mark half a decade since the House opened its doors
Wednesday 2 October By Chloe Lawrence
This year marks five years since we opened Soho House Hong Kong in the Sheung Wan neighbourhood, and during that time we’ve welcomed the city’s creative community through our doors to meet, relax, eat, and drink.
During September, we hosted celebrations that showcased what makes the House such a special place. These included food and drink pop-ups, live performances and talks, as well as a flower installation by Hong Kong-based florists The Floristry, which greeted members in reception.

The food and drink pop-ups
Throughout the month, we hosted a series of events to celebrate some of the food and drink industry’s biggest names.
Embla x Soho House collaboration
Friday 6 September
In the Pool Room, members enjoyed a specially crafted food and drink menu created by the House’s Executive Chef Krzysztof Czerwinski and Dave Verheul, head chef at Melbourne-based wine bar, Embla. The evening featured dishes inspired by Embla’s seasonally changing menu, which focuses on flame-grilling and fermentation, with cocktails centred around Verheul’s own small-batch vermouth.

The performances and talks
Throughout September, we hosted cultural talks and events that celebrated the House’s community of creatives. This included performances by Chinese indie-pop band Schoolgirl Byebye; Hong Kong singer, Moon Tang; hip-hop artist, Novel Friday; and one of Asia’s biggest Afrobeat bands, The Afroseas. The month culminated in an Acoustic Sounds event featuring Japanese-Scottish guitarist Sean Shibe, a special House Magic show and a comedy night featuring American comedian Matt Davis.
The House also welcomed members to talks with British-born artist Hannah Rollings, whose work captures the raw beauty of Hong Kong, as well as filmmaker Derek Tsang, who recently directed the first two episodes of Netflix’s hit series 3 Body Problem.
