Step into the Blue, in partnership with Bombay Sapphire
180 House

We celebrated The Soho Swimming Club Penny Cup Gala – a one-day performance and installation by artist Tom Pope, who took over the rooftop pool at 180 House – with a day of creative events held in partnership with Bombay Sapphire.

The day kicked off with the artwork launch. A series of cyanotype prints, a ceramic trophy and other gala-related objects were installed throughout the pool area, and the installation came to life through a series of short, playful swimming races that saw participants compete to win a bespoke trophy created by Pope. That was followed by a cyanotype printing workshop, with Pope guiding members through the process of creating a photograph without a camera.  Finally, the artist was joined by Soho House Chief Art Director Kate Bryan to discuss the installation – his inspiration, his practice, and his commitment to centring his work around disruption, participation, and play.
