Why it’s time to rediscover Soho House Hong Kong

Opened in 2019, Soho House Hong Kong was our first outpost in East Asia. Situated within a 30-storey tower in the city’s historic Sheung Wan area, there’s plenty to discover within the House: space for dining, drinking and meeting friends, cosy corners for working, an ever-changing programme of events and parties – all surrounded by panoramic views over Victoria Harbour and the nearby islands. 

If you’re thinking about visiting the House, here are five reasons why we love it – and you will, too.

1. The food offering 
The four different food offerings in the House mean there’s something for everyone. On the 29th floor, you can enjoy House Regulars (such as the Dirty Burger and Club Wrap) or indulge in local dishes inspired by Hong Kong’s flourishing food scene. In the Pool Room, on the 30th floor, you can pick from a Middle Eastern menu of homemade breads and mezze. There’s also an open kitchen serving meat, fish and seafood cooked on the grill. The Drawing Room on the 27th floor serves breakfast and afternoon tea, and the members-only Club Cecconi’s on the 28th floor offers Northern Italian classics.

Beyond the House’s daily food offering, the ever-popular Sunday Feast is a monthly event that features an impressive spread for members to tuck into as they catch up with friends and family.

2. The multi-floor gym
Soho House Hong Kong isn’t just made for dining – it’s also a wellness hub where members can relax in the sauna or sweat it out in one of the daily fitness classes. Set across three floors, the gym also features a steam room; a dedicated workout space with Technogym machines, Watson equipment, AssaultBikes, BeaverFit training rigs and a free-weights area; and a class timetable offering Pilates, HIIT, strength training, and more. There’s even a boxing ring and a yoga studio. For those new to fitness or simply wanting a little extra guidance, the House personal trainers are on hand for one-to-one sessions. Don’t forget to grab a smoothie, juice or protein shake from the Health Club Bar once you’re done.

3. The neighbourhood worth exploring
Set in Hong Kong’s Sheung Wan area, the House is well-placed so that you can explore one of the city’s most lively neighbourhoods, packed with places to eat, drink and shop. Creativity in the area is flourishing too, with a number of new galleries opening their doors in recent years: Soluna Fine Art celebrates the best in Asian contemporary art, Square Street Gallery showcases experimental exhibitions in a community-led space, and Double Q Gallery focuses on work by Eastern and Central European artists. 4. The extensive art collection
As with all of our outposts, Soho House Hong Kong features an extensive art collection that celebrates the city’s creative community. The collection was curated by Soho House’s Global Director of Art, Kate Bryan, who got to know Hong Kong’s buzzing art scene when living in the city from 2007 to 2011, and focuses solely on artists born or trained there. Look around the House and see works by well-known artists like Lee Kit, Evelyn Taocheng Wang, João Vasco Paiva and Leung Chi Wo, as well as emerging talent such as Stephanie Sin, Ant Ngai, and Elise Lai.

5. The unique decor touches
The interiors at the House are inspired by Hong Kong’s traditional culture, with a nod to the films of local director Wong Kar-wai: rich, jewel tones of burnt orange and jade green, reclaimed wood floors and leather detailing is found throughout. But the real star of the show is the Pool Room’s disco ball, suspended above a central pool and adding a touch of glamour to the bar and surrounding club space.
