The Soho Farmhouse Ibiza neighbourhood guide

Where to eat, shop, party and explore when you’re visiting the new Farmhouse on the White Island, as recommended by our local team
Monday 23 June 2025 By Chloe Lawrance
With our first House in Ibiza set to open its doors this summer, you may have started planning your trip to the island. And while you might already know about the beautiful sandy beaches or superclubs showcasing some of the biggest names in dance music, there’s so much more to explore on the White Island.
And who better to ask for recommendations of things to do, see and eat than the locals? As they prepare to welcome you to Soho Farmhouse Ibiza, we asked Pepe Fernández, General Manager, and Pedro Vila, Head of Membership and Communications, to be our tour guides.
Scroll on to find some of the best spots to discover – when you’re not enjoying the wellness amenities or relaxing poolside, of course.

The quirky cafe
Bar Costa
Situated in the main plaza of Santa Gertrudis, Bar Costa has been a mainstay of the area for generations. Inside, you’ll find interesting works, painted by an artist who lived above the bar in the 1960s and 1970s. He couldn’t afford the rent, so he paid with his artwork instead. You’ll find plenty of locals ordering bocadillos and cold-cut tapas. Be sure to try both – Bar Costa is known for them.
The best bakery
Chez Bibi
This cool little bakery in Santa Gertrudis is French-owned, and always bustling with people stopping by to stock up on flaky pastries, homemade cakes and freshly baked bread. Order one of the croissants – they’re some of the best on the island – and take a seat on the greenery-filled terrace. It’s the ultimate spot for people-watching.
The inspiring art space
Estudio Laterna
Ibiza is known for its artistic community. Estudio Laterna is a creative hub, founded by Andrea Sánchez and Ricardo Jarpa, which showcases and supports both long-standing and upcoming talent on the island. The studio is part art gallery, part experimental garden; there’s even a conceptual bookstore offering inspiring mementos of your visit.

The ultimate sunset spot
Cala Benirrás
The island’s sunsets are legendary, and both Pedro and Pepe recommend heading north to Cala Benirrás. On Sundays, locals head to the beach for drumming sessions as the sun dips below the horizon; quite the experience, but this does mean the area gets busier than the rest of the week, when you’ll find the bay to be quieter.
The traditional village
San Mateo
Around 10km up the road from Santa Gertrudis, you’ll find this picturesque village that’s well worth exploring. With a few bars, restaurants and cafes dotted among typical traditional Ibizan buildings, this is a taste of the ‘real’ island life, away from the throngs of tourists. Visit the village church, a beautiful example of late 1700s construction in the area, and be sure to check out the annual wine festival if you’re visiting in December.
The legendary local bar
Bar Anita
Often described as Ibiza’s ‘original hippy bar’, Bar Anita has been humming with activity since it first opened in the 1960s. Now woven into the history of the island, it attracts locals and tourists alike for plates of tapas and glasses of homemade Hierbas Ibicencas liqueur. The family at Bar Anita have been producing it for over a century – not to be missed.

The shopping haven
Las Dalias de Ibiza
Ibiza’s best-known hippy market, Las Dalias’s friendly stallholders sell all kinds of handmade trinkets, jewellery, clothes and art, as well as local produce like salt from Las Salinas. While away a few hours, before grabbing a fresh juice or a bite to eat at one of the food stands.
The artisan boutique
L’Atelier n°74
The brainchild of local Tara Sfez, L’Atelier n°74 is stocked with consciously made fashion and homeware. It’s much more than just a store, though. The team also runs daily creative workshops to help the local community engage with their artistic side. The weekly schedule includes classes on printmaking, leatherwork and natural incense making.
