1. OWN IT! Presents Courttia Newland’s A River Called Time at Shoreditch House
Join us in the Library for a night of conversations, readings and insight into Courttia Newland’s dystopian multiverse. Newland will be talking to That Reminds Me author Derek Owusu about his book, A River Called Time, which has been shortlisted for the Arthur C Clarke Award. Set in an alternate world where slavery and colonialism never happened, A River Called Time is at once a timely exploration of social inequality and a story about love and the search for the truth.

2. Books for Breakfast: James Brown and Richard Kilgarriff at 76 Dean Street
Meet the man who changed the face of magazine publishing forever – and lived to tell a tale of sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll. James Brown was a reporter at NME when he became the founding editor of Loaded, the most influential title of its time, before taking on the editor’s role at GQ, where his hedonistic lifestyle finally brought him crashing down to earth. Hosted by Bookomi’s Richard Kilgarriff, this session candidly recounts tales of excess, peppered with original insights on the state of media and celebrity in the UK.

5. Late-Night House Comedy: Slim at White City House
Join us at Pen Yen for the first of our late-night comedy specials. Tonight’s headline comedian is Slim. One of the UK’s biggest stand-up stars and the undisputed king of the Black British comedy circuit, Slim’s popular and all-embracing brand of humour is generous, smart, and bursting with infectious energy. Opening the session is comedian Andrew Mensah, whose relatable style and ability to speak on his life experience in an unapologetic manner has established him as one of the most exciting emerging comedians on the circuit today.

6. Club Supper: Fire + Wild at Babington House
Head to the Log Room for a Club Supper with Fire + Wild. Having founded Fire + Wild in 2017, chef, hunter and forager Mark Andrews spent the next few years exploring the wild parts of Scotland, Sweden and France, cooking over fire and foraging for food during remote camping and canoe trips. Since then, Andrews has developed a unique style of cooking that’s heavily influenced by the use of fire and the landscapes, habitats and wildlife of the forest.
Tickets for this Club Supper cost £45 per person and include a welcome drink. Please note that due to the format of this event, only vegetarians will be catered for; please email courtney.lewis@sohohouse.com with any allergy and dietary requirements.

9. Aperol brunch at Electric House

10. Soho House x We Are Parable: Black Is Love at White City House
Award-winning film exhibition company We Are Parable has collaborated with Soho House to present two films in October that celebrate Black love, accompanied by performances, talks, and a creative workshop. The second one takes place this weekend.
Poetic Justice and a flower arranging workshop
John Singleton’s follow-up to Boyz N The Hood sees him give a voice to African-American women: Janet Jackson is magnetic as Justice, a poet grieving the loss of her partner. After the film, We Are Parable cofounder and Shirley Blossoms founder, Teanne Andrews, will lead a flower arranging workshop.
