Have you heard about our Cities Without Houses membership? One of our best-kept secrets, it’s designed to give members access to creative communities in metropolitan cities that don’t have physical clubs – while also allowing them to visit our Houses all around the world. Think of it as a traveller’s pass to everything Soho House has to offer – from events to networking opportunities – whether you’re based in Madrid or Melbourne.

Our current roster of Cities Without Houses locations sits at 80 strong – and movers and shakers from all over the world are part of it. From designers in Dubai to musicians in Memphis, Cities Without Houses means we can continue to diversify our membership and connect people across the globe. And the best part? DJ Paulette, Manchester member

With a career as a DJ and author that spans over two decades, DJ Paulette is known for her blend of house, techno and disco. She’s championed incredible music in the UK at Glastonbury, Printworks and The Hacienda – and just about everywhere in between – all while squeezing in residencies in Ibiza and Paris.

What has been your favourite Cities Without Houses moment?  
‘I missed out on the Brighton Soho House Pride extravaganza last year, but made up for it by having a fabulous time DJing at Shoreditch House’s Halloween party. The energy was off the scale, and the members’ costumes were superb.’

Why is connection important to you? 
‘Connection is the pulse of life; it’s what inspires me, it’s how I learn, how I improve myself, how I work, rest and play. It’s how I place myself In the world. It’s like sticking a pin in your life map. Communication is the creative spark, community is its heartbeat and collaboration is the key.’

Why does Manchester need a Soho House? 
‘From unions to the suffragettes to music, Manchester has a long history of bringing people together through their shared interests. Having a Soho House in Manchester offers a cultural and creative meeting of minds, a hive, a hub, a like-minded nucleus, a home from home for all of its international members and guests.’

Pip Edwards, Sydney member

The Aussie creative director founded activewear line P.E Nation with her partner Claire Tregoning back in 2016, channelling the nostalgia of 1990s streetwear with a modern twist. When she’s not jet-setting around the globe, Edwards resides in Sydney.

What has been your favourite Cities Without Houses moment? 
‘When I’m in London, I’ve been staying in White City House. The facilities are amazing – the gym is epic and I love working from there as well. I got the opportunity to head out to Soho Farmhouse too, which just blew my mind.’
 
Why does Sydney need a Soho House?
‘We need a meeting place for like-minded people. Somewhere that can connect us all in our hometown.’ 
 
Why is connection important to you? 
‘Connection requires real emotion. It’s the core of all relationships.’

Tomo Koizumi, Tokyo member

The Japanese designer is best known for his frothy gowns full of ruffles, each hand sewn in his Tokyo studio. Though his namesake brand has existed since 2012, Koizumi’s designs reached a global stage in 2019 when they caught the attention of fashion heavyweights Giles Deacon and Katie Grand. Since then, he’s worked with the likes of Marc Jacobs and Dolce & Gabbana to become one of the hottest rising stars in the industry.

Why is connection important to you? 
‘Connection to my work is essential; it makes my dresses more meaningful.’

What should members know about you?
‘I’ve recently started making contemporary art pieces as well as dresses. I’ll be hosting a solo exhibition at the end of the year and I would love any members to attend.’

Why does Tokyo need a Soho House?
‘Tokyo is a very international city. We need a place to meet new people.’

Paula Mendoza, Bogotá member

The Colombian jewellery designer began her design journey back in 2003, when she founded her first atelier in her home city of Bogotá. With a focus on handcrafted pieces and a commitment to social responsibility, Mendoza’s designs have been worn by Kylie Jenner and Zendaya, featured on the pages of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and stocked by global retailers such as NET-A-PORTER and Bergdorf Goodman.
 
What should members know about you? 
‘I’m a very passionate person and I love what I do. I feel very lucky to be able to make a living from my passion. The jewellery I design is made for both men and women – to give them a kind of armour.’ 

Why does Bogotá need a Soho House?
‘I think every city needs one.’
 
How did you discover Soho House? 
‘I was living in New York City at the time, and I used Ludlow House as a kind of office. I held my meetings there, but also had fun with friends. In the summer, of course, I discovered the pool over at Soho House New York in Meatpacking.’
