Join our Soho House Shorts finalists at Cannes 2024

Our filmmaking competition Soho House Shorts returned in February, in partnership with Campari. We invited members from across the UK, Europe and Asia to enter their short film submissions focused on the elements of life that transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. Just as Campari is the red heart of every Negroni, we were looking for five-minute films that explored the meaning behind two people meeting in a Soho House bar. 

We received 400 scripts, which were shortlisted to just 12 entries. These included Mika Simmons’ A Spice Of Life, Tom Nunez’s In For Four, Jaydena Athena De Martel’s Ephemeral Echoes, Reaa Puri’s Ten Years Later, Derek Ting’s High Bar, Adu Lalouschek’s Dreaming Eyes, Amber Callender’s A Negroni, With A Side Of Rizz, Luis Donegan-Brown’s It’s A Sign and Liv Little’s Meet Cute. 

From the shortlist, our judging panel chose three finalists. This panel was made up of some of the most esteemed writers, directors and film industry experts, including Andrew Haigh, Guneet Monga, Fred Tsui, Andrea De Sica, Deborah Faraone Mennella, David Dorrell, Susy Laude, Mireille van Helm, Aneil Karia and Nicky Bentham, alongside Campari’s global director, Cristina Ferro.  

Each of the three finalists has received €15,000 to bring their film to life over the coming months. The eventual winner will see their short film shown in all of our screening rooms for the month of September.

Two strangers strike up a friendly conversation at a bar, leading to some interesting discoveries and proving that you can’t judge a book by its cover – or can you?

Fabius De Vivo – Free Spirits
On New Year’s Eve, Nicholas and Julia’s encounter at a bar takes a magical turn when a sip of Negroni freezes time, leading them on a journey of love and self-discovery amidst the frozen world around them.

Nicola Peluso – 3,650 Days 
A jaded model and an idealistic musician looking for a fun night out, start with a Negroni and find an eternity in a night.


‘The three finalists entered very different stories, each offering a distinct narrative but all stemming from the same brief of two people meeting in a Soho House bar. 3,650 Days is a well-paced script, with good dialogue between the characters. Keeping Up A Parent, Sis delivers a satisfyingly fun conclusion. Free Spirits is adventurous and really creative,’ says Jo Addy, Soho House’s Group Film Director.  

Our three finalists will also be attending our upcoming Member Mixer at Cannes Film Festival to celebrate their achievements – and you’re invited too. From 7pm on Monday 20 May, we’ll be hosting a party in the Campari Lounge at the festival. Inside the Palais des Festivals, it has 360° views out over Cannes, with its own entrance and lift to access the space. The party will see members and guests come together to recognise the Soho House Shorts finalists with a Campari menu.
